02-04 Cobra S/C and STI

Last night my friend tells me he has a race for me . He met some guy with a S/C Cobra with mods that wants to run. So he calls him up and we got my 1/4 mile spot. He has an STi with him btw. So, jimmy flags us all 3 at the same time. Hnads go down and I jumped everyone. So we run again and second time I launched with my friggin parking break on. So the Cobra guy lets his motor coool down. I ask him what all hes got done and he tells me a pulley, headers full axhaust, intake and clutch. So we go one more time. I beat the STI on the launch he was at my back tire the whole time. The Cobra was back 2-3 cars right off the bat. At the 1/4 mark, the STI was at my door knockin and the Cobra sad to say I was at his back bumper. I felt I did well being that it was modded. We got it all on tape it was a damn good race. Kinda embarassing that I screwed up the first 2 though.

You know what? Ive been trying to figure out how to get vids from my cam to my puter and today I wa at Best Buy and saw this thing where you plug the cam in and then to the puter and you can edit and everything. I t only costs like $75 so as soon as I get the $ to blow on it I am gettign ti for sure. I may make some movies like TBAUER

Sounds like it could be a killer video man.. don't feel bad I've seen cobras with a pully, cai and programable computer run back to back to back 11.66's in at the track next to me :(

You could also get the video to your computer by way of "tv card" it's a card that enables you to watch cable tv on too or even run yoru dvd and vcr player through as well. Im in the process of actually putting all my family vcr tapes which are starting to go back on to dvds. Don't know, it might not be a good idea after all if your not a computer type of person but in any case it's another option and here's the one I currently use http://www.ramelectronics.net/html/WinTV-PVR250.htm

good kill on the sti and good hanging with a terminator. Those cobras take to mods like crazy. A lot of them run 11's with the pulley/exhaust/intake combo.

I dont know, I wasnt all that impressed being that he was a kickass driver and only had a few feet on me. I mean yeah he won but for what he had done compared to me I just wasnt droolin.

I don't regard an STi high on the food chain (unless it is modded). A modded Cobra behind you in the 1/4......the guy obviously can't drive very good. What mods have you done to the Sy?

Huh? The Cobra beat me. I consider the STI a damn good contender. They can lay the smack down from what I have seen. The guy in the Cobra was a good driver from the video I watched. He runs 13.2 on street tires up here at 6000. I say not bad at all. I ran 14.4 with gaping hole in my turbo to IC pipe probably am 13.5-7ish now.

Oh sorry, I misread your post. I have driven an 05 STi and to me, they weren't that quick and the clutch is junk. On the other hand, I have piloted my brothers 03 modded Cobra and could easily spin the M/T tires in 1st and 2nd....and in third with some extra effort. At the edge of breaking loose (maximum traction), it will take a very quick car to beat it. I have been to the Bob Bondurant and Bill Scott racing schools and consider myself a tad bit above average in the driving category and the driver makes 90% of the difference in these vehicles IMO. If Ben comes to visit with it, maybe I can talk Jimmy into a brief race with his modded Typhoon while Ben videotape's. No excuses, no complaints, no apologies :).

I got some buddies up here with some pretty fast cobras, both with kenny bell 2.4l blowers hitting 625 horse...not bad for a stanky, but for 40gs for the car and the other 15gs in it, i think i could find something better for almost 60gs..........

AMEN!!! There si a guy down here who just bought a new Roush. Its supercharged with Nitrous. Supposedly makes 535 at the wheels and Im not sure if htats with or without hte bottle. We wont race me til hes done breaking in his trans. I guess its a T56 from the Viper. He says he needs to put 2000 onit. Personally I never heard of breaking in a trans but I guess its possible.

The Viper, the Corvette, and the Cobra all share the T56 Tranny. The Corvette's is actually a transaxle, located in the rear. F-bodies had the same 6 speed. Not sure about Roushes, but it wouldn't supprise me if they came stock with the T56. Not sure about the break-in procedure though

break in procedure as follows for all t-56 6spds:

1.start engine
2.back out of driveway on to street
3.shift vehicle into first w/o letting off of clutch
4.slowly raise rpms to 3500-4000
5.rapidly release clutch pedal and mash accelerator pedal
6.enjoy tire smoke and clutch smell

Roushes are weak, just a fancy GT mustake....if he is hitting 525 horse, he is shooting at least a 150-200....I would race him jus so you can be next to that piece when it goes BOOOOM..... :tup:

Don't know about the 05 roushs but I know up to 2000 year they still had the tremc T5 speed tranny in them.. The 2003 and 04 stage 3/360R models came with 379hp and 380ft.lbs
