07 Mustang GT smoked

Let me start by saying, I've had my Ty about 6 months and due to the cold weather... It has sat in my barn.... so we've had very little time together. I just recently learned how to drive it (patented sy/ty launch). My friend just bought a 07 Mustang GT convertible, we ran into each other at the local Wal Mart and started talking cars. I told him I picked up a Typhoon last fall, he asked me if it was fast? I replied, " It can hold it's own" He replied " I'll smoke ya" so we pulled out of Wal Mart and caught the very first light. I built some boost and when the light turned green it was over with. I pulled an easy 3 cars ahead, ran up to 90 and never looked back, I was expecting him to reel me in as he went through the gears but it never happened. We pulled off afterwards and he simply said "that thing is quick, are you sure it's a V6?" I asked if he wanted to run again "NO!" was the response this time. I think he was still in shock that he just had his A$$ handed to him by a brick.

My boss wants to race me too. Although hr has an 04 vette. Automatic convertable. I think I am going to wait til I can accumulate a few more pounds of boost before I take a bite out of that one... Nice kill though. Most people dont understand just how quick they really are.

I've raced one other person, in a new mitsu eclipse but it wasn't worth posting. I gotta say I'm perrty happy with how this thing runs. I'd try it.. what's the worst that would happen yoou lose to a Vette... but wait..... victory would be much sweeter.

Way sweeter. And he keeps running his mouth about it too. Even more so that I just reprogrammed his ECU. He swears he could feel a big difference... I couldnt tell when I drove it. But I want him to take it to the track one day and find out if the brick can take him...

Mustangs SUCK!!!!

I wouldn't go as far as to say mustangs suck.. Sure some years aren't that great but maybe the people driving them thinking a showroom stock car is the fastest thing ever to grace a blacktop is too blame.. or maybe it's the people who think they can race but can't shift there shit without letting out of the gas :2gun:

Hmmm, nope, still say they suck. You are correct, the older ones are cool but the '80-'04 sucks big time. See my sig, I have first-hand experience. Granted, never had a problem with it (only 8k miles after all) but the fit and finish, feel and such is so second rate. My '84/'90/'94/'97 Camaros all had better quality.

I dunno a bunch of my friends had 3rd gen F-bodies and a one good friend had 5.0 Mustang. The Mustang trounced all the f-bodies in a straight line. On paper I always thought F-bodies looked better appearance wise and mechanically, but in the real world I rather have the 5.0. Things didn't get even out until the LT1 came out (and then the 4.6 went down hill), but something about the f-bodies turned me off every time I drove or rode in one. The SC Cobra are cool as well.

I would rather have a Syclone than any of them :syty:

So basically your experience of mustangs center around 8k worth of driving in one of the heaviest and over priced versions to date?

Older ones are cool but if I had to pic an era when mustangs actually did suck it would be 71 to 85 not all of types and years.

The comment about fit and finish being so second rate may be true to some degree but to compare them to the build quality and performance of the 84 to 97 camaros is a joke.. They were even worse then the mustang in all aspects :rotf: as far as im concerned and yes I have some experince with mustangs and camaros

A SyTy is no better, if anything worse. You didnt buy these cars for build quality, they were bought for performance, IMO these cars are all going to have flaws even the new ones. Hell I hear about the stupid little flaws all the guys are having on the new GCsrt8 and its the same thing, it was built to perform.

Re: 07 Mustang GT smoked

i agree.. if you complain that your sports car has too harsh of a drive or too violent of a powerband then why the hell did you buy it!
