holy shit.it looks clean coming out and looks clean going in..dunno if it's a bit to much to aks, but can you share a pic of your engine bay without the engine? just wondering what you did to all the wiring. cause i don't think you're running AC and ABS?

Hey John,
good luck firing it up! Just out of curiosity, how many miles did it see in those 5 yrs?

About 2,500 miles. The reason I I did it was I had problems with the spr pistons twice. I replace one an couple of years ago and another went bad last year. They get soft and the skirts collapse. They are fine pistons but not for 20-30 lbs of boost and 1,700* egts. I decided to go with a stronger rod, (Oliver vs eagles) and better pistons. The brodix heads was something I always wanted to do so now was the time. Other than the piston problems everything looked new inside!

We fired it up at about 6:00 pm today and other than a small water drip from the thermostat housing everything was fine. It started up first time, idle and ran out great. Everything is finished except I didn't put on the front prop yet. I still need to remake a couple of plug wires as the new headers are different then the ATR's that were on it.

I have a question about the Pontiac intake since I am running Vortec's & will be switching them out for Pontiacs at some point.
I know you had to mill the bottom of the intake to get the ports to line up. At least that's what I got from a previous thread.
What about now that you have the Pontiacs on? Did you just put a thicker bead of silicone on the front & rear of the block to fill the difference? Anything else required?

It depends on the intake and head combo. There are several different Pontiac/Brodix/Bowtie single plane intakes. The easist to find is the Bowtie 23* and 18* intakes and the hardest one to find is the true Pontiac intake. The 23* Brodix intakes are very rare also. Many builders have modified/cut various intakes to match their heads when they didn't have the correct one available.

The intake that I used on the Brodix heads that I recently installed on this motor is a true 23* Brodix intake. It will fit ported vortec or the Brodix -8 & -10 without milling anything. My gap at the bottom is about 3/16 of an inch.

I milled a little off of the Bowtie 18* intake on my TT Ty as it was slightly hitting the block on the front. I have several intakes on the shelf. Some are milled more than others. It depended upon the previous head setup.
