12.57@104.75mph
stock turbo, ultimate chip T1-17 setting, original exhaust and catalytic converter, pump gas, just a lot of tuning and little tricks.

I do know that tuning is EVERYTHING! Thunder Racing dyno tunes all my builds... How hard are the Syclones to tune (with the old computer setup) say compared to the modern day LS1 cars and trucks??

Time to start to learn how to yourself and not pay someone, chances are they won't know crap about a syty tuning either. Not that they are dumb or couldn't learn, but as you said in a later post just not many trucks around to learn on.

Best to learn yourself so you don't rely on someone else in the syty world.

Welcome to the boosted world. With all due respect, I don't think one of these trucks is the best choice to make the change from N/A ... unless you have patience and take the time to learn, learn, learn. Read this site for a week before you get a vehicle and make an attempt to go fast. These trucks will fail far faster than other turbo vehicles. When they say, "there's nothing like it" it can be taken in more ways than one. There is so much info on this site and you won't find a better group of people to help you out. But, please read all you can. You will be many steps ahead of the game and your wallet will be better off too.

Thats why im here. To read, learn and talk to you guys before i spend alot of money on something thats more headache than its worth and not preform to my expectations..

My main goal here is not to build a monster sy truck. Bottom line is, I've always wanted one, i love the styling of the truck and the rarity. And the way the buyers market is looking, im figuring now is a better time to buy than any.

I want a Sy truck for #1 to ease around town and car shows and look bad ass cuz noone else around here has one. #2 to run well when needed and mid to low 12s is enough to ask for and from other posts is possible without going to radical...

I am going to have to learn alot on the tuning side of it and im sure with help from you guys i can get the info i need. Im a PLC programmer by trade so im guessing i'll catch on easy!

Bring me a truck< Chassis> and 30 grand and i will build you 10 sec truck that you can drive on reliably on the street. You can buy all the bolt ons in the world if your not sy ty tuning fluent your screwed. Its easy to buy the parts and bolt bolt bolt. With out the right combo of parts and a near perfect tune you will not extract the fruits of the mods. Most average mechanics can average mid 12s in a sy with a canned tune and bolt ons.

Re: 1/4 mile times on stock bolt on truck?

I understand what your saying. Im no kid right off the street wanting to build a truck. I had the first single cab full size LS truck in the country to ever run in the low 11s and hell that was 6yrs ago. and she was built right in my shop.. I also have 2 of the fastest 330ft, 660 raptors in the country, built in my shop.... I know a thing or two about putting a winning combo together. The main help i need is the tuning side of it and this AWD setup..

Thanks for your offer but ill have to pass.. Im currently building a LS "street" car to run in the 10s, high 9s for ALOT less than 30k.. Although 10s are quiet impressive out of a v6, im not looking to go that fast with a sy.

Re: 1/4 mile times on stock bolt on truck?

I am in the same boat so to speak. just picked up a syclone in dallas for 4800 from a dealer down there that had the truck in storage for 3 years. Last time it was reg. was in 06. I changed the cap and rotor, plugs and wires and set the timing back to stock - it was off by 15 deg wtf. I have not raced the truck yet, just pulled the tranny to rebulid/upgrade it to hold more power. I also did a vacum leak test with a pvc pipe caped with a valve stem on it. I found a few lines that were leaking and the tube from the turbo to the ic also so I replace all of those. I want to get the truck to run right stock before any mods.

Any help you guys on here can give me will be great. I am not trying to make it the fastes truck or anything just to get it to run ok and do decent at the track.
