Yes but not on a syty. For us they are overkill (IMO) in all but the most max effort builds which are set up to tolerate the stress they put on the pushrods, rocker studs, lifters, etc.

Not worth the cost/hassle for a driver IMO.

well this is only a weekend and track driver i fugured i would start a new build while the old one is still in
so i am starting to put together parts and wanted some opinions

FYI, you'll have clearance the stock pushrod hole in the head to run those 1.7s to keep the pushrod from rubbing.

Hmmm, don't know about the size of the pushrod hole on Vortecs, I meant the stock or L35 heads. But, even if the Vortec holes do need enlargement, machine shops only charge $20 or so to do the operation.

well i am glad i work at a shop that does all of this stuff plus i get stuff at cost :D ps there may be some new cool gps from me soon but i still have to workout some stuff whith my boss

Stock heads will tolerate 1.6s without opening up the pushrod holes sometimes and sometimes they wont. You really need to check when mocking up the assembly or just enlarge the pushrod holes with the Louis(sp?) tool before bolting them on. The heads have enough casting variation to where some pushrods will rub and some wont on the same head where as they might clear just fine in the other head. Its really a crap shoot without just going ahead and enlarging the push rod holes. BTW, you can get the above mentioned tool from jegs or summit for a couple bucks.

On vortecs I enlarge the hole with a 1/2" drill bit for clearance since the Louis tool wont work on them (push rod holes are round in the vortecs). This offers plenty of clearance for 1.6s but I havent tried 1.7s to see if they will work.

well i just got the rockers today and am waiting for my boss to finish my heads then i get to do all the checks to see if this is gonna work i will let you guys know what happens
