though i agree that red doesn't fit the theme of your truck.... i think that blue doesn't really fit either imo. i say slap on some BLACK letters. they might not be as unique, but i think they would look better against the white.

...then there is always hot pink.

well, the only "color" on my truck is blue. "Typhoon" in my intake, taylor plug wires, the lighting in my headunit, my fog lights, my gauges and even my ricer underbody lights, so yes, blue and white IS the theme of my truck, especially when it gets painted :D

Truckless. For now.
it would be cool if you could get a nice gunmetal finish. i've seem some cool blue-grey gunmetal colors before, and that would look killer on your grill.

you could paint the letters white with blue pearl in it
a pearl wont do anything when the red is under it. Will either be red letters with a white pearl or red letters witha blue pearl .....which would probably make them look purple on certain angles.

What color are you going to paint it? And if you used primer it wouldn't matter what color was underneath, but to me it sounds like you want to go with the blue. I'd say if it fits your new paint job then go for it...I've never seen the letter done in blue, might look good.

if you prime first the red wont show through
base will be white then add the pearl with the clear
or you could bo them blue with a light pearl

3 layers of paint on little letters, I dont think so. Id rather make molds and recast them out of blue/clear pastic or make some billet aluminum ones or something :)

ahhh.... i see. i didn't know about the other blue stuff. in that case, blue is cool. i like the anodized aluminum idea.

the clear would be cool and if you could somehow put indiglo or small LED's and runs wires and such hooked up w/ the neons to come on at once and have them glow
probably harder than it sounds but might not look bad

I voted for #2. I'm not a fan of the red grill letters on any color truck. And matching letters, I think they only look good on darker colored trucks.

Keep the letters but.........since you can do the work needed what about a color that matches the wheels. Dont you have gray ZRs? If so Id at least entertain the thought of yanking the decals and painting the GMC letters a metalic gray to match the wheels. Maybe throw a TINY bit of pearl in there to make them stand out SLIGHTLY when the light hits em just right.

If you lose the letters then taste requires that you go all the way and yank any and all decals. Keep in mind that from a side view the letters actualy stick out enough to break up the "fish mouth" look of the grills used on GMC trucks and they help, somewhat, bring the lines of the hood into the front bumper cover. Kinda hard to explain but if you have an eye for the correct "look" of a vehicle you'll know what I mean.

One last thing... Im not a fan of chrome on anything newer than say early 70s muscle iron so if it was me Id do the letters in such a way that the chrome would get painted/covered/removed/whatever.....but thats just me and my .02 worth.

I voted for #2 only to keep the letters. In my opinion i'd change the color the letters to match your ty stickers like previously mentioned by others.

yah, until you get arrested for having blue lights on the front of your car and not being a police officer. at least, that's how it is in CO. it's illegal to have red or blue lights facing forward on your car. i'm assuming most states have the same laws.

I have had thoughts of losing the letters, cutting my grill and doing a billet insert, but then it starts to look like a modified Jimmy front end.

Those big letters have to remind the car you are closing in on that a truck is about to run them over...

Gonna do billet on the daily driver and leave Ty alone for now.
