12's on $3000.00 BUILD ?'s

Ok...I blew the TY up about 2months back..So she's sitting in the yard looking sad as hell. We pulled the motor out of it and I have no clue wtf broke but ITS BROKE.lol. Well its got 130000 hard miles on it from the previous 2 owners and I'm sure I didnt help it any either. Its completley stock I have the place to do all the work myself, lift tools etc .My friend works at a machine shop so getting the block preppd is easy. I just need a build for a budget NO higher than $3000.00 dollars that means TURBO TO Oil Pan etc. just wondering if anyone could give me a complete build list. I would like it to run 12's but if it cost more money srew it...I cant spend more than 3000.00 and this truck "was" my daily driver.

i'd suggest better pistons (forged), a set of l35 rods, l35 heads, possibly a 20g turbo and lots of tuning. i'd say that could all be done under 3000g

I'd say this: save to do it right the first time...if you are going to mess with the internals, mine as well do a forged build. That way, it can grow with you later on when that 20g isn't cutting it anymore for ya.

ok if I go with a basic 20g build. would i have to run diff dp and exhaust? I would deffinatly get that stock crank nitrated. where could i get it tuned.I have searched for people in VA but there's only like 3 people on the board and noone actually came out and said they could "tune" the truck. I really need to get to work on this thing cuz its pretty much my only means of transportation...I guess not the most reliable means of transportation but its cool as hell...I've pretty much replaced everything on the truck but the motor now its time for that, its got a new tranny and rear in it plus a assload of other little odds and ends but I gotta get this thing back and running cuz I just can let it sit there and rott.

treat the crank, forged pistons/rods, l35's (for budget) and pay to get a custom chip. 12's all day long.

I think you could get a turbo that is better then that for about the same price. Look on www.turbotime.us pluse the turbos on there are proven and there not just some throw togeather shit for e-bay. IMO

Contact jwaller from the site.. he offers 20g's at a really good price plus offers another setup that looks completely stock yet out performs the 20g.. im sure he'll fill you in if your interested.

You can run 12s with the stock turbo. I don't know if you were planning on running alky or not, but with a bigger cam and alky, the stock turbo will go 12s without pushing it too hard. I'm not saying it's a better option than a buying a bigger turbo, but it is an option.

Dont bother treating the crank, its a waste of money. An uncut stocker is good for 550-600 HP which you wont even come near with 20G.

I dont know...I prolly will do it anyway just to be on the safe side...after hearing what happen to syclonewillie's i think im gonna do it anyway..also do the rods tooo...just to be safe it will be no extra.so jwaller is the man to talk to about a turbo...I'll hit him up.who can burn me a custom chip and tune this mofo?

whatever, its your money, waste it however you want, but if youre gonna treat it, it better be cryo-treating, not nitriding (sp?) that shit is completely pointless.

Well I was gonna do cyro.....my cranks got 13000mi on it so you think i should just get it turned and and not treat it?
