Doing some more internet engineering... it looks like this set up would work on our trucks. Thoughts?

I was planning on cts-v 6 piston on front and 4 piston on rears I think it will work

I think you would still need the adapter brackets, but it looks hella sweet

pretty nice looking setup. If you buy the calipers I'd be happy to send you an ls1 install kit to try out to see if they'd bolt up - returnable if they don't fit.

I have some ls1 brake beakers that I am going to use and I have the cash for the calipers and rotors but I can't afford the 18's to clear them the only thing I am worried about is the spacing but I think they will work

I also think with the stock rear beaker they will also work in the back

I don't think the 6 piston CTS-V brackets will bolt directly, mainly because you have to have a rotor that will work with them.

Z06 rotor will work with the CTS-V 6 piston caliper and it "should" bolt on to the ls1 brackets for our trucks. they just bolted them on an 01ish camaro in GM high tech and are going to to the rears next

The down fall to the Z06 rotors is they are not directional they are fairly cheap but not the best. The CTS rotors I am unsure if they will work but I would think so I think they are solid but the dont way as much as the Z06 rotors either.

My guess is the rotor is the same as a zo6, and the caliper is different but will work with one of our style of brackets.Ls1?. looks like a nice easy swap for those guys, lucky bastards. should be pretty easy for us.

How do they come up with $700 for parts? $200 for two rotors, but the calipers must be more than $250 a piece?

I didn't read the whole thread so maybe I missed it.

Nice setup anyway,

The V calipers are made by brembo, and I'm sure we could cross reference the bremo's directly to find more info if needed.

Yes I drive a Typhoon.

I would love to have a setup like that on the ty but don't want to go with a wheel larger than 17".

I do like those calipers better than the c5s

$90 for each rotor and $157 or so for one complete caliper with pads and clips.

So with tax, maybe $540 or so.

CTS-V rotors are 6 lug, SyTy's have 5 lugs. You can get aftermarket rotors as well that do not have the directional cooling (completely overblown issue on a 14" rotor, especially when upgrading from a stock SyTy rotor :rotf:).

They are a common design although they have unique bolt mounting locations. Same as used on EVO's, WRX's, etc.

The biggest issue is going to be verifying back spacing so the calipers don't rub the wheels.

I am calling a GM dealership right now, I'll be ordering calipers and then rotors. If all goes well, I will gladly test fit and snap pics for everyone. We have a Typhoon with the body off the frame in the shop so we can test easily.

2010 rotors are 15" (not 14") and would not work with the 4 caliper pistons on the '04-'07 CTS-V's. The 2010 CTS-V uses 6 caliper pistons and is much more expensive.

The focus of this thread is the proven (on other f-body platforms) low cost combination of '04-'07 4 piston CTS-V calipers with C6 Z06 14" rotors.

i shipped an f-body brake caliper adapter kit to sportmachines today, so i guess we'll find out as soon as he gets the caliper. We'll probably have to figure out a different brake line i'd imagine...but hopefully the brackets i have already will work. Getting a new brake line won't take much effort.

This will be a nice option, to semi-get away from the vette stuff on our trucks. I love the brembos on my sti...and i really like that there aren't any abutment brackets to deal with...just a caliper.

Did you just BigSmoosh me? :D

When you look at it, please focus on the clearance between the caliper and the wheels. The CTS-V caliper is much thicker than the Corvette C5 or C6 calipers.

Also, apparently a custom bracket can be used to make these calipers work with C5 Z51 13.5" rotors.
