Well if I messed up on the stock 16" O.A. tire Dia. at 26.5, my bad and I apologize because I thought the 255/50/16's were 26.?. Also on the "exact same size" as in zero difference front to rear for each combo. I'll edit the post and clear it up a little cause My wording is screwed as usual at 2:30 in da AM. If the stock 16" O.A. is 25.6, then my 295 / 345 combo will be the same.

Thanks for pointing that out  !

I didn't know you had a Japan Ty, that's pretty cool.

The Marlboro's came with P255/50R-16's as there tire size, maybe someone was trying to get close to that. Also I noticed lately some manufactures have been phasing out the 245, but still carry the 255??

I didn't mean to sound harsh James, I was just trying to warn you in case you were banking on those sizes fitting and then have everything be off.

No biggie, I'm always glad that some one knows more than me cause the world would be a scary place if I was the smart one :rotf: ! And I don't want to spread bad info because one of the boys may take it for serious and it may cause them a problem. I'm still not real sure about some things on my Ty and I figure out little things as I find them. Truck most likley had 245's, not sure. I do know the 245 16"'s are kind of an oddball size in Japan and maybe the 255's was all the first owner could find?

I know he didn't like the Teal / Gray and ordered it Teal / Teal. I know shortly after he got it and fried the second set of tires, he didn't like the stock wheels and put some hi dollar light weight (BUTT FUGGING UGLY) white 17's on it that require adaptors cause they are actually a Honda lug pattern and that was all he could get in that wheel he liked so much (Teal / Teal & white wheels, otta be punishable by death) :squint: . Other than that and a ton of onboard electronics, the truck was never touched (thank god!) and was well maintained since he was a GM Asia Exec.

I know the chrome 18x12's with 345's a gonna look sweet though  !

You can bet your ass I will, but all in good time Graasshoppa, all in good time.

No not in Japan, but close. The Island of Saipan, last U.S. Common Wealth before Ok. Japan. Got the Ty from a retired Japanese GM Asia Exec. who retired and went to the Philippines. Bought it from him there in Manila last year and shipped to Saipan. Just drives the ricer boys insane that they got dogged by an all stock S.U.V. right down to the Delco air filter and an ugly Teal green one at that. Gotta love it, I do !

Beat several "modded" rice burners so bad that they felt the need to "get on line" and stock up. Started talking major mods like 12-15 p.s.i. of boost, "after market I/C's", cold air tubing and my personal favorite, the much vaunted "ground booster system" and ratteling off the longest list of useless mis-matched crap you have ever heard of in your life :rotf: . I'm serious, if a couple of these guy's have actually bought half the crap they are talking about, they must have bought stock in www.jap-parts.com!

Course then they need a few months to rebuild the bottom end (while they learn to read a service manual) to handle all the "mind blowing" H.P. they are going to make :rotf: . I said sure no problem I'm not going anywhere and now they haven't seen any of my trucks for several months and their asking what happend to the ugly green S.U.V.? I just tell them I'm rebuilding the bottom end no big deal, I mean it is a 14 yr. old "truck" right, not like your 03' Toyota or Honda? Then I made the comment that project Rice Cooker (the new plates "RICECKR") would be ready when they were. Now their all kinda scared and kreeping around the shop to find out what's going on ;) .

Cost of "Cooking" the rice..... Ty + a few grand, the look on their face? Pricless! Thank you P.A.S. and Visa!

Re: 19" rim ?

just curious , how many people are running 17" rims on thier syty's. i'm kicking around the idea of a 17" z06 wheel . the little rubberband tire look is not my cup of tea. i looking at 17x9.5 fronts with 275/40's (25.661 dia.) and 17x10.5 rears with 315/35's (dia. 25.681).
im in the middle of converting the front brakes to c-5 brakes , which should fit fine into a 17" rim. anyone know of any downside to 17" rims that im not seeing ?

Re: 19" rim ?

the "rubberband" look is a function of the tire (aspect ratio) not the wheel. a 275/40 17" has the same sidewall height as a 275/40 18". although it will probably look smaller because of the wheel size.

Re: 19" rim ?

I'm ditching the 17's I have now for the 18's. No problem witth the 17's, just ugly white 5 stars is all. The stock size is 16". Going to 18"s is only a +2 and not real radical these days. 18"s will handle the curves better and the BFG DR's gotta be better than the standard radial for traction even in a 18".
