Picked up a set of these today. (4) 1989 Corvette 17 x 9.5 with Sumitomo HTR Z III 275/40/17 tires. New tires, wheels have been resurfaced, clear coated and the beads polished. Finished them off with an NOS set of Syclone center caps. Came with lugs, a lock set (same as SyTy) with key and new Corvette center caps.

Re: 1989 Corvette Wheels

Dave, the treadwear is 300. The HTR Z's are the low one. Mine are the HTR Z III's. There's also an HTR Z II with a treadwear of 360.

How much do these weigh? Stock wheels vs these or aftermarket I am looking for wheels now so have to decide.

Re: 1989 Corvette Wheels

There are a few exceptions to Dave's explaination. In 1988 there was a one year only base wheel that was a 16". The 17" with the center cap like mine was more common. 1995 ZR1's, 1996 Grand Sports and Collectors Editions used a-molds. Sizes were mostly the only variation, with coupe, convertible, Z51, Z52 and ZR1 widths.

It is wrong to refer to something by pattern as a ZR1 wheel. It should be size, 17 x 9.5 and 17 x 11 that determines it. Grand Sport Coupes in 1996 were the only other car with an 11" rear wheel and the offset is different than the ZR1. It is the only wheel that is correct for our trucks, needing no spacer. ZR1's fit, but the rears are too far into the wheel well. The Grand Sports line up perfectly with the fronts.

I like them. I have a set of 1990 vette wheels with exposed lug nuts, but i have not put them on anything yet. They are 17x9.5's.

Yes I drive a Typhoon.
Re: 1989 Corvette Wheels

Looks good! I've always liked this style.
I have some 1989 pre-production zr1 wheels on my Typhoon. They came off a pre-production 1989 zr1 Tommy Morrison tested.
