ok i put a new plentum gasket in,and replaced a couple suspect vacuume hoses put everything back together ran like shit at idle until i unpluged the map sensor ran perfect
thought maybe bad sensor so i replaced it with a msd 3 bar out of my racecar -same result so i put my msd 2 bar in and it runs fine but still only pulls 15 lbs boost @wot . do map sensors go bad ? at least it is running to get it to car craft so turbo dig can take a closer look at it .

Re: 2/3 bar map sensor ?

is it stock or does it have a chip? stock gotta stick with the 2 bar sensor, it should only pull 15 psi unless you messed with the boost controller and the computer.

i can bring a extra 3 bar and 2 bar sensor to car craft if need be....
we need some more info...

Re: 2/3 bar map sensor ?

yes it is a stock chip , ive got a pit bull chip for it but i thought i read somewhere that it was a questionable chip to run, that is what was in it when i got the truck and the stocker was in the glovee so i put that in and forgot about it. then i guess my 3 bar is probably fine just needs a correct tune and chip .

any recommendations as to what chip i should buy , or do i have someone custom burn one for me ?

stock chip should still run alright with a 2 bar sensor, 15psi is fine, unless that is you want to run more boost... either you could buy a ultimate chip for stock injectors or you could get the tools to load and tune your own, otherwise dig or someone could hook you up with a custom burnt chip. we can discuss more at the show, and show you the wizardry of the stock computer

the pitbull is a mild improvement over the stocker. the bad one is the kb chip

Re: 2/3 bar map sensor ?

the pitbull is just a better 2bar. but i believe the fuel map is extended so you can run like 16/17lbs of boost. turns the intercooler pump on sooner and maybe a little more timing.

Re: 2/3 bar map sensor ?

intercooler is wired to ign , i will probably put it in and c what happens . i dont remember why i took it out , i think it was because it was overboosting all the time with stock turbo /wastgate and stock boost controller. I also think i would like to get a different boost controller something a little simpler than the greddy pro fec e-01 i have , just too many doodads to work through .any suggestions

For a better understanding of 2 bar vs. 3 bar check out this link here. However, don't get your hopes up to buy either a 10n1 or Ultimate chip because they are both no longer in production.

I've had great luck with the $40 www.boostvalve.com ball and spring controller. Doesn't get much more simple than that. One of the best bang for the buck I ever got as far as turbo mods. The only drawback is you take the control fully into your own hands (although the same could be said for any aftermarket controller..)

BTW, this is not an air-bleed valve or air compressor dial - those are garbage in comparison to the ball and spring design.

so what is the next best thing to either of those chips?
