I agree with people that it would be fun to have it in Vegas, but at the same time I think we should go with Teds idea and go ahead and keep in Kansas for next year as well. I know I don't have much say in it, but for what I have I should tell ya

Maybe it would be easier to have a group of people get something like this together. The only problem would be that of course you have people that would say that they would help, but the key is team work, and i know that sounds stupid but honestly it is and if you have one person who is supposed to do something and doesnt everything can get blown off track, which wouldnt be good. You really shouldn't have any problems finding people to help out with this event, I know that there are guys out there that would be perfect to help out with something like this. I could help out with something little  don't put me in charge of something big...ever...that would be the worst thing! :) mainly because I am just to dumb sometimes to figure things out :D

patrick.. didnt mean for that list to be in any order.... i was just typing...

tygirl... there usually is a small group of organizers who help out, but the grunt work is mostly done by one individual...and thats whoever steps up to the plate.

nats is a pain in the ass, its a big argument each year and everyone fights over it. some people want to move it around each year, some people want to keep it in KC to make it fair travel. then theres the part of if we ever want the event to grow and get some sort of advetisement and recognition, we need to keep it in the same spot.

a good argument is... you dont see the GN guys moving the bowling green event each year? look how big they have their event.... of course, we arent as big as the GN groups, but we have a sizeable showing... and it can only grow as more people find out and if its in the same place each year...

anyhow...

at the this years nat, i'll go ahead and put in a reservation to say we are coming back for 2004. It wont be set in stone, its just a courtesy reservation until we figure out whats going on...

lets just enjoy ourselves in a few weeks and go from there for 2004 :D

I agree same location is much better. An annual event that happens around the same place and time. I still think the facilities at Great Bend were better since we had the buildings in the event of storms and a large place for autocrossing and burnouts.

I really still believe Vegas is not the place for the Nats. I like Vegas but this event is about these trucks and owners. The area nightlife is not important as what fun is a empty parking lot at night going to be?
The central location is as fair as we can be for people on both ends of the country (and the Canadians eh?)

I think that it is a good idea to try to have the Nats at least around the same place every year, I am really looking forward to this year, getting to meet everyone etc. :D I am sure it is all going to be fun!

The reality of it is - people just hang out. We were in Chicago and there was a lot of things to do - however most people hung out and chatted and watched BG get stupid.

I think KC is going to be the best place. It is in the middle of the country. There are things to do. They have a nice track. They have a hotel that likes us - that invited us back

I agree that Vegas would be cool as shit - and I'd be there in a heart beat. However I think we need to keep the event in the same place - wherever that might be.

Someone brought up the turbo Buicks and they are in the same place every year. And it has been successful - and it is in Kentucky. There isn't anything there. They go to race and hang out.

You guys are right. Vegas would be fun, but it's not centrally located. Not much family stuff to do unless you want to bring your kids to the strip club and casinos. Sure they have a nice track but there's nice tracks everywhere. I'd say either KC like always, or somewhere else close to the center of the country like Nashville, St Louis, mabey Denver. Mile high Sy/Ty Nats? That would make for interesting racing as everyone would be unusually slow. We have to keep this somewhere where everyone can attend, or whats the point?

LuckyHands, you say you'd rather have it in Vegas than KC but you live in the Bay Area, wierd? Well in that case, I think Wisconsin is the PERFECT place, of course this has nothing to do with where I live.

Lets get real people, the whole point of this convention is to get a mass quanity of people togather. To do so, you must have it somewhere where it is equally accesable to that mass of people, period. Vegas is not that.

Obviously you have never been to Las Vegas..... Circus Circus , waterparks , malls... lots of stuff in Las Vegas . I think I have been to Vegas 5 times this year..... and probably again this weekend for import drag race event.

And I will be there in November this year for SEMA. And next year.

We have met up with some other people that go to SEMA every year.

sy2206, what does Wisconsin have to do with the Bay? I personally would like to see the nats get out of the midwest next year. I fully support anyone that wants to make it happen in LV. If the turnout is lower I think that is ok, there will definately be more west coast owners and trucks there. I'd like to see more members on this board give LV a chance before they knock it.

If you do it in Vegas - you could bet (if its in Vegas its legal) nobody from the East Coast making it. Chances are I'd leave the trucklette at home. The only trucks you're going to get to come are going to be from the West coast and whatever people are on the fringe.

I like what the Northeast has done with having their own meet. The Nationals aren't the only thing that happens during the year. Having regional meets gets people together without the added cost and headache of the Nats.

I guess for me - the idea of the Nats is having it as close to EVERYONE as possible. This means having it in the middle of the country. Look at the attendance from the first few Nationals - it got progresivly better - it started moving and people quit coming. "I'll wait till next year when it is closer."

Boston to KC = 1440 Miles
Boston to Vegas = 2750 Miles
Chicago to Vegas = 1780 Miles
San Fransisco to KC = 1860 Miles
San Fransisco to Vegas = 570 Miles

Just for reference.

I'll just settle it.... if you havent read the other posts yet..

Nats 2004 will be at KC. We will be working to have it the same weekend as the S-Series.

Nothing more has been discussed and the details have yet to be layed out. We have some key people like Morgan, Steve, Jas, Heather, and myself who will probably be getting together after next week to start to make things happen.

Other than that, im not going to worry or be concerned until after next weekend.
