20g tuning method

I have a 20g turbo in place of the stock one and wanted to know how best to make use of its potential?

The truck is stock apart from some gauges and a WBO2, but the ECM only uses the NB O2 input.

The WB patch from what I have read is only so that the ALDL can read the WB output for DM. Is this right? I have an LM1 so am not worried about the WB output, although having the data in DM might be useful for looking at after the runs. What do you think?

Also, as the boost is still limited to stock 14.7, will having the 20g have any other effect rather than be slower to spool up until I change the stall converter?

I am installing a 2800 stall when it arrives in the next coulke of weeks, but I wanted to get some info beforehand. I will also get the AFPR in and the Walbro 255 fuel pump when my hanger gets here. Stock injectors though.

I have a tuning setup ready to go (3 Bar MAP inbound, WBO2, Tuner Pro RT, Data Master, spare laptop, 12v - 240 V DC/AC inverter for laptop power and a PROMinator)

I have read the tuning 101 fuel / boost and am reading loads of tuning threads but wondered if anyone had any tips or extra bits of useful info?

Seeing as I am going to change the stall converter, is it actually worth me doing tuning as it is now? Presumably the stall will have a big effect on how it runs?

I am also considering an aquamist kit, but that is a way off yet. Right now i want to use the 20G properly.

cheers.

Re: 20g tuning method

What exhaust housing are you using on the 20G? That makes a big difference in how things work. Also would be good to know if you are running a Cat converter, and if you are using the stock wastegate or ported stock or external.

Re: 20g tuning method

I'll have to check the housing - believe it is 14cm.

There is a cat unit, but it could be a cat back. It is very light when I have had it off so it may just be that.

The wastegate is definitely stock internal.

have you already got some bins to play with?
if not i would start asking for some, and begin playing with some bins hat way you can pop in the parts and start tuning.
