Is this a good turbo for the stock motor, I have all of the supporting mods. fuel pump, atr pit bull chip, deep tranny pan, black beauties, plugs, cap and rotor, tranny cooler, 3inch intake, ic scoop, ic hardpipe with bov, 160 stat, kenne bell afpr, watter wetter, lightweight battery, 3inch exhaust (going to run open with this one, motor has 70,000 miles on it, mbc, hard ic lines switched to heater hose and rerouted, atr ud pulley, johnson ic pump, fans wired along with pump full time, bilstien shocks +lowered 2inches, and a datamaster but i cant figure it out. If you were me what would you do, the truck impreses me when i launch but it is weak on top end, personally i think it is slow, but would like to get more respect with it. What else would i need to run this turbo, and where to get the stuff if any. Thanks again.

i sent my turbo to majestic ( this was before i knew about this board )
and had them install a 20 g wheel when they rebuilt it . with no other
changes the truck went from a best of 8.48 to a new best of 8.01 1/8th .
this was with an atr chip , shurflow pump , 255 fuel pump , no cat ,
and boost at 20lbs . all else was stock

there should be tons of info about the 20g if you search.
Your ty should be able to attain mid 13's as it sits, I'd reccomend getting it to run the right numbers before you start changing your setup any.

When my truck was all stock I got it down to a 14.1 up here @ 6000ft. You need to get DataMaster working first for sure. I had problems I didnt even know about last summer when I was running a best of 15.2. Found out my IC pump wasnt working. Also had no cat and was overboosting. Just fixing these two things got me right dwon from 15.2 to a 14.1. I am not lieing. When I got my turbo from Waller it was because my oil pickup tube fell off and took out my motor and turbo. It sucked. When I got hte turbo back I pretty much just slapped it on. No other mods except Walbro 255. I went down to the track and ran a 14.4. A few weeks later, I discovered a huge hole in my turbo to IC pipe. This was not good. I replaced the pipe and this was on an 85* day. I did a boost launch right out of the Checker parking lot and chirpped the crap out of all four tires. I soon rebhuilt my trans and put iin a 2500 stall converter. My truck spools up super fast. If you use lights as a reference, when the light on the other side turns yellow, I give half throttle. when it turns red, I mash it and am at full boost in .5- 1 second. Another reference for you is this, my friends WS6 used to beat me by about one car length. Now I beat him by 2. Im pretty sure Im somewhere in the mid 13's. At this altitude that is pretty good I would say. I havent been to the track since I got it running so good. With all your mods I dont see why you couldnt hit high 12's or atleast low low 13's.

I have an issue with boost creep in 3rd running my 20G with no cat. I bought mine from a local turbo shop. I have a 14cm housing, so spool is slow without a higher stall convertor. I may need to adjust the WG or get a better boost controller. I think the 20g is a great upgrade. I have lowered my boost down to stock (from 19psi on old turbo) and I think I still gained hp.
