Not all bowties are made the same. Some have different valve offsets which allow them to flow super gobs of air. Others have very little offset and can only flow a cretin amount of air. Likewise can only be ported to an extent.
He cant even tell you a part number? I would be very cautious about them.

yeah im looking for the best heads to go with im looking to only make around 500 to 600 hp but at the sametime i dont want to only be able to make that much id rather have some heads i can grow into at the same time but still be able to make the power im looking for now you know what i mean/

Get ready to spend about $4k just on the heads and intake, and you might not even then have all the parts depending on the style of head. Some take regular rockers, most take shaft mount. If they don't come with the rockers and they are shaft mount good look getting them unless someone on here has a set. They are hard to come by unless you get lucky like me and Jesel still makes them. ($1200 for the complete kit. It cost me $700 just for the stands, shims, bolts and new bearings for the rockers)
On top of that, it takes more then just a carb style intake to bolt on and go. You'll need a plenum, a TB, you'll need sheet metal valve covers, possibly headers depending on the plug angle, a new distributor. You can very easily get into the $6-8k range when going with bowtie heads.
You can make 500hp on vortecs for some decent money.

I'm currently buiding one with the 4.3 marine intake (yes I know lower is cast iron
) with an ls1 throttle body. I got the intake, injectors, rails,and fpr for 111.ooo on egay 2 weeks ago. This thing is heavy, but I've already got the aerodynamics of a brick on wheels.
I'm going a2a for the intercooler to make the vertical t/b easier. Planning on using a turbo bonnet to minimize restriction and may have to upgrade rails.
I hate to weld up the stock intake and want to try this for an affordable alternative.

Alot of OBD2 guys are swapping over with great success. Thanks to UR50slo.
Myclone (R.I.P.) was looking at this when the parts were 1000-1200. U can buy this everyday for 199.oo plus shipping complete.

The brodix heads would be a better choice for 23 deg aluminum heads. the 23 deg bowties flow like crap, and are too thin/weak for a boosted application.
