I finally had a chance to lay some paint on the doors.. The handle area came out very nice:

It will be a month or two before I have any pics of these on a truck...

damn you
second its nice to see the some of my ideas arent bad ones
ive been thinking of doing this cuz i love the flush look but dont want shaved door handles
although i do plan on shaving the tail gate
so... damn nice job im jealous
but i suppose i should finish replacing my doors to get rid of the rust first

Thanks for the compliments.. I did shave the tailgate and rear glass as well..

very cool... kinda wish the handle was painted to match(if you haven't got that far... better yet)

although on a side note, personally, I like the old handles, really would love to get a gunmetal version of it put on. what can I say, I never got into the hiding things/aerodynamic craze.

i dont think its so much aerodynamics or hiding things
for me it makes the body lines flow a little easier than with the ones sticking out
but then again painting them to match my wheels would kinda be cool
so many ideas so little money

I plan on picking up another set of handles from the junk yard and spraying them to match... That way I can try it both ways and see what I like better... Hopefully I can pick up and extra set of electic mirrors as well so that I can paint them in and see how I like it..

Did the linkage end up working out OK. I went through the thread again and see there was very little to do.
I may do this instead of repairing my door again seeing that I can't shave the door handles.

I had to re-bend the line that goes from the handle to the lock itself but other than that it lined up pretty much perfectly.. I'm quite happy with this mod..

I actually used two of the solenoids that are used for the back window to pop the rear latches. Its worked OK so far but on occasion I've had to start the vehicle to get the gate to release. I guess the battery on its own doesn't always provide enough amperage/voltage...

Where did all these pics go? I am about to include this mod in my wreck but some pics of your work would be nice. Is it pretty much just a cut and paste deal? Did you use mid 90's full size handles? How much did you cut off of the donor door?

Wow... great galleries... I wish I would have seen those before I did mine. I love the look of my 2nd gen handles.
