2nd Heater core in about 600 miles?

I went for a ride up the road today in my truck to the local car wash, and gave Syclone a nice spray down. When it came to the vaccuming, I took out my floor mats just to find a nasty little puddle collecting on my carpet. This is the second heater core I have broken in the past 600 miles, and yes I know that booste launches cause this, but I have only done at-most 3 in the past month. This just seems weird to me, plz someone put their :2cents: in, maby a prefered heater core?

Basically, if you tweak the heater core too much putting it in...it will leak. They are a pain. That little bracket that holds the two pipes comming off of the core also seems to me like it could cause a problem. Mostly because the two pipes don't line up for it and you have to tweak it abit so they will fit. I though for sure mine was gonna leak when I put it in because it had to be tweaked so much to fit in that bracket. But here I am a year and a half later and it is still working fine (knock on wood).

EDIT: If you haven't already...pull up the carpet and soak up all that anti-freeze when you fix it.....that stuff is nnnaaaassstty

I lengthened the hoses when I did mine to give the copper inlet/outlet lines a little more slack. My bud did the same several years ago and we both have never had a problem since.

That's a good idea

If mine ever dies again, I'm gonna try that.

So just replace the hoses with longer ones, and it MIGHT solve the prob. I might give that a go.

You may have a broken motor mount.
I've done a thousand launches and have NEVER had to replace my heater core.

Thanks for all of the suggestions, after school I'm gona start the job by taking all of my precious interior out :squint: . I'm going to look into lengthening my hoses too like Mike said, maby this will do the trick, hopefully. I'll post updates on how everythings doin, and take some pic's of the "cringing" spot on my carpet which is being shampood today as well.

mine leaked like 6 months after I put it in and I know its b/c I really had to tweak it around to get it in there.

Myclone says you need a longer hose! :myclone:

I did mine just as a precaution and I've never done a heater core in the life of ownership.

As the motor torques around it pulls on the outlets for the heater core and cracks the welds.
Condition is worse if your mounts are worn.
