2wd vs 4wd mounts

Mounts look like they should work, the headers won't and you will have to modify the oil pan.

Re: 2wd vs 4wd mounts

I'm not 100% sure on this, as I have never seen 2wd mounts to compare, but a possible explanation why the 4wd mount is different to the 2wd version is because of the proximity of the driver side exhaust manifold on 'normal' 4wd trucks. However, a SyTy drivers side exh. manifold is different to a non SyTy. I originally thought the difference was due to the front differential being in the way and requiring clearance, but the Pass side didn't appear that it would interefere when I fitted the JTR HD (2.8) engine mounts. The only difference between the two sides (of the JTR mounts) that I could see, was a cut away on the drivers side engine adapter plate. The passenger side adapter actually like I mentioned looked like it would fit either side on the Ty, hence my deduction regarding the difference in manifolds being the reason. Obviously, having not refitted new stock mounts, I cant confirm this 100%, but that was my observation with the JTR's. Very pleased with them, give you loads more room there. My 'stock SyTy' drivers side mount that I removed had sagged to the point that the mount did actually rest on the front diff casing. If you can compare two new stockers (Lh/Rh) side by side, if the drivers side is shorter, then I am wrong, but I dont think if I remember correctly there would be a way to make it shorter as the lower mounting bolt is there. my Lh and Rh looked the same too. Nothing near the diff with the JTR's. If clearance for the L/H exh manifold on non SyTy's is what makes them different, then you could deduce 2wd mounts will fit our trucks. Not heard of that anywhere, but every day is a learning day with these things. Hopefully rather than take this as fact, someone may or may not corroborate this.

Re: 2wd vs 4wd mounts

I'm swapping my engine from an AWD to a 2wd this weekend using JTR 2.8L 2wd mounts. If I think to get pictures side by side of the mounts I will.

Im not using the headers, as Ill be going turbo and making custom manifolds. I also already have a modified oil pan from a member on here "sparkwire".

I have seen several mount kits that use oem clamshell style mounts off a fbody, but Id really like to run a poly mount like the pair that i listed in my original post. I compared the pics of the mounts to my factory mounts and the mounting points to the frame, and to the ls block look to be correct. I have also cross referenced part numbers for motor mounts between 2wd and 4wd via rockauto, and I get the same part number, but I know that isnt always correct. I emailed BRP about the mounts and the guy said that they would not work, but did not elaborate as to why. Im half tempted to order the mounts, but would really not like to spend $300 for something that I will have to modify. At that point, Id just fab my own mounts. Im going for the bolt on and go approach lol.

Re: 2wd vs 4wd mounts

My observations we're only on a Ty with the stock v6. Unless searches prove otherwise, I would go off the recommendations of the manufactures. There may well be differences when using an LS in a 4wd frame. Unless you know exactly what the differences are and that you want a pure 'bolt in' you would be taking a big chance and gambling. Hope you sort it.
