3 Bar Map Sensors

[SY2455]

The old 3 bar map sensor GM Part # 16040749 was a 3 wire connection.

The new 3 bar map sensor GM Part # 12223861 is a 5 wire connection that requires a new connector Part # 15305891 to be installed with the new map sensor.

The question is which of the 5 wires do you use or is there a better way? :dunno: I need a new 3 bar map sensor. TIA

ok, so forgive the noob, but what needs to be changed on the PROM? is it a flag, or do you change the entire code, a-la $58?

Does that 3 Bar MAP have the same Voltage output as the GM 3 Bar at the same kPa? Is there anywhere where they are different?

You must have a 3 bar chip to run a 3 bar map sensor.

You need a bin that already has the 3 Bar code changes to it. It isn't as simple as a flag change.

Does that 3 Bar MAP have the same Voltage output as the GM 3 Bar at the same kPa? Is there anywhere where they are different?

That 3 bar map sensor has the same style plug that the Sy/Ty/TTA uses. the old one from GM use the same style plug too. But GM discontinue the old style plug (3 wires) and went to a new plug (5 wires). I hope this tells you the difference.

ok i thought so. i didn't want to say flag, but for lack of a better term i used it. i know it isn't that simple. if it was, everyone would have it.

they are the same one that GM sells just with a different name on them. Ive been running one in my truck for over a year now.
