3" downpipe GP!

Re: 3" downpipe GP!

I was thinking of that option as well. I will add theat to the options as well. I will ask about the extra (if) price of that.

Good thinking

I sent in the order of the flanges to JS. It is under way.

Re: 3" downpipe GP!

I want one, with the puck removal option and one WB or O2 bung. Is it that hard to remove the puck? Or is it as simple as grinding out the welds? Is anything else necessary for good boost control once this is done? Thanks for all your efforts.

Not to hard, just need to grind out the welds.

Re: 3" downpipe GP!

If Clint can pull it off I should be running this DP at the Nats for everyone to check out.
We might be installing it in the parking lot and running no cat or exhaust, but a straight 3" SS DP is about as pimp as it gets!

Is 5 the max or can you handle a few extras?
I have 2 locals thinking about it.
They'll probably wait until I get mine to see the quality, fit etc.

Re: 3" downpipe GP!

I think I am going to take on Tom (BBW808) and tha tis all I will hand over to my Pipe guy. He has other regular business that he would still need to attend to and he asked that we not overload him as to where his regular work is delayed because of these DP. I will be sure to keep the design of it around if there is any desire to do this again in the future

Re: 3" downpipe GP!

If anyone backs out, I'll jump in and be good for one. I would prefer the flange and cut out options. LMK thanks - Jim

Will do

Re: 3" downpipe GP!

JS is working on the Flanges as of now. As soon as I get the flanges It will take about a week to get all the pipes made and then it is up to how you want me to ship the pipe to you. That can be discussed when I need the money to pay for the pipes. That should be in about a week I hope.

Re: 3" downpipe GP!

I haven't heard from Jeff about the flanges yet. His guy that does his flanges and such for him takes his time, even Jeff is waiting on projects that he has placed with him before the flanges. I can still get the pipes done if I can get the flanges by the middle of next week. Here's Hoping ::fingers crossed::

Re: 3" downpipe GP!

Yes, I am still waiting on the flanges from lazer guy.

His delivery sometimes can be a bit long.

Plan to call him again tomorrow and see where he is at with them.

As one that has build, tested several 3" dp's.

The big benefit will be from an enlarged flange and knocking out the puck, cutting out excess material.

So much gain in fact we saw 6mph in 1/4 when done right.

If you use stock outlet will be waste of effort IMO.

Glad to see you guys are very understanding. Hopefully it will come out for the best in the end.

I have a couple of Questions for you two.

1.JS Manufacturing. When you knock out the puck can you still run the stock chip with no problems with over boosting etc? Do you have pictures of the excess material you remove.

2.Divergent Lightning. Did you find out if it going to be one piece or is it going to be a 2 piece design with a V-Band or similar? How will you inform us it ready to ship 1 week notice etc?

Re: 3" downpipe GP!

It is going to be a 2 peice design. From my conversations with other people, it will be better to come in two pieces because you will be able to adapt it to your truck easier. As this is a bargain bin deal, I think it will be up to you to find your own band clamps or decide to have it welded together. After we get the first one finished is when we will actually know which way it is going to be done, v-band or otherwise. Either way it shoudn't be a big problem.

I will let you know when I get the flanges made and ready. At that point the moneny will be due at the time I will drop off my truck to be the guinea pig for the pipes. I won't place your order until I have recieved the payment or confirmation of money sent for the pipe. I will make a post on the thread adn send all of you PMs about when it is time to do so. Other than that it should be peice of cake!

Cutting out that puck will actually help you with boost control as it allows for exhaust gasses to leave faster and more efficiently.

The exact opposite actually happens. You will see when wastegate opens it starts dumping too much boost. Is actually very good thing.

I have a local truck with this design dp, running low 12's on stock turbo. I had to go into the initial WG duty cycle table in chips and max them at 100%, meaning remain closed initially.

I have the MPH hack in there also BTW.

What ends up happening is WG stays shut until boost rises up, then it just slightly opens when it reaches desired boost. Once it opens just a tad, control is no problem running full open dump.

I know I mentioned this before but we picked up 6mph in quarter just with this downpipe.

I'm pretty patient too. I was just hoping to have it on by the time of the FAST memorial meet.

Thanks

Great, then I'd really want one.
