I would like to know what the difference between the vortec 4.3 that come in the 92 blazer and the vortec 4.3 that come in the typhoon? I understand the that the ty has a turbo as a power adder but are the internals upgraded?

Re: 4.3 vortec

What Makes the SyTy engine different form the other GMÂ 4.3Ls?

Compression is 8.35/1
Differences:
nodular iron main caps
better headgaskets
lower comp. hypereutic pistons.
cam is same as same year NA 4.3

Re: 4.3 vortec

The camshaft is technically different but its only slight different. Otherwise you are corrrect about the short block and heads. The intake manifold, exhuast manifold, fueling, & ECM Wiring Harness are vastly different.

That also depends on what year 4.3's you are trying to compare... You say "vortec 4.3" which would be a 96+ 4.3 motor. Typhoons and Syclones did not have a vortec 4.3...

I always thought it was the same LB4 cam as NA trucks. What's different about it?

Re: 4.3 vortec

I have seen the phrase "Turbocharged Vortec Syclone Engine" in either Dealership sales literature, or the Owners' Manual. I don't remember which, exactly. I remember being surprised by the usage of the term for the Syclone.

It's in the sales literature and it on the Syclone Christmas Tree.

Thank you all for the info. The reason I was asking is because Im thinking of adding a turbo to the 4.3 in my truck. I had a LT-1 that I was going to put in my truck but it blow on the dyno. So Im going to try to do some inexpensive way to add power to my 4.3.

Well I have a vortec 4.3 that is the original motor in my blazer. I thought the ty came with a vortec 4.3.

Re: 4.3 vortec

is there any way to make an L35 have great performance at an affordable price or is it even worth it?

You could try something like this:

Check out this Hot Rod mag article. 300hp with a carb.

Then they supercharged it for 500hp.

It can't be that difficult.

Here's something to read for fun.

http://www.syty.net/forums/showthread.php?t=29607

and Syclone is spelled with an S

Even though yours doesn't have a carb, the same basic principles apply.
