4l60e VS. 700r4

I would like to know if the 4l60e and the 700r4 are the same size. i just bought a gilbert driveshaft and did not want to buy a differernt size one. I know a 4l80 is stronger but i would have to replace my drivelines. i did a search and seen i could use and adapter to convert. I just wanted to see if they are the same size?

700r4 = 4l60

the E at the ends means electronic control.

GM just changed numbering system and went to 4l60

Same tranny, woudn't be an upgrade unless your goal is to be able to control shifting electronically.
