Re: 4l80E conversion and jackshit?
so A and B solenoids are reversed somehow. Truck starts out in 3rd then shifts to 4th ok but doesn't like doing 1st and second for some reason.
Trans builder checked valve body and solenoids and says they are ok so hopefully a rebuild isn't necessary though I am still not sure.... The solenoids can't be connected the wrong way due to the configuration of the pins so he says that's not it.
PCS reckon they might have a fault with the wiring loom that has the pins swapped on the outputs for the trans so A and B are reversed.
Wish I knew more but I will need to check the wiring diagram on Saturday when I go there with my g/f.
Hopefully it is an easy software switch. Whatever it is, it's still a pain in the ass that has cost me yet more time and money
Better than a rebuild.
For one horrifying second the guy told me that the 4L80E and 4L60E took the same connector on the trans and I thought I might have a 4L60E(xploding) trans. Turns out the VSS and TOSS connectors only go on an 80E so my panic whilst palpable was shortlived.
The trans guy doesn't own a remote device for switching the 80E so he can't check anything else
