Thanks for the compliments. This project has been a long time coming. The tires are Yokohama AVS Sports. 315/35 17s in back w/ 235/45 17s in front. I sent them out and had the sides smoothed and the redlines vulcanized onto them for that "retro" look. The wheels are American Racing custom made Torque Thurst IIs. I then had the centers sanded and painted the color I wanted. The center caps were custom engraved.

oh, yeah....as far as the cage goes. I like the look, it helps stiffen the car since it is a convertible (I know that with the full frame I probably didn't need it but this car is over kill anyway), and hopefully the times it pulls at the strip will have required it.

Ok, I know it has again been a while since I last posted. Now that winter is here in New England (well alomost here as today is November 26th and it is 55 degrees out) I should have some more time to paruse the board. Anyway, here are some updated pics on my Camaro project. Pete at KRS in Marlborough MA has been busy. The car runs and drives, he just finished up the wiring and have the stereo about done. Stereo is an Alpine head unit w/ Boston Acoustics components, 2 10" Kicker subwoofers and 2 Kicker Amps (you can see them in the pictures of the trunk). Top is going on and we are getting ready for paint. The car should (fingers crossed) be totally done by April. The pictures with the white stripes are the mock-up of what we most likely will be using. I wanted something different than the factory stripes so we scoured many books on '60s race cars and found that this stipe pattern was popular. The stripes will be a dark red to compliment the color of the car which will be the original British Green Metallic. The number circle will be white and most likely have the number 20 in it as that is how many years I have had the car. You can see the battery post terminals in the trunk. Pete installed those in case we ever need to jump the car. The battery is located under the amps and is not "easily" accessible. I also incuded a picture of the emblems I had made for the car. I am calling the project "Stroker SS" since the engine is a 500 HP Chevy small block 383 stroker. Hard to tell from the pictures but the car sits really low. The top of the windsheild frame just barely comes up to my sternum which is only 48" tall. I will post some more pics once the top is on.

Alright - now to the updated pics. Here are some shots of the center console. My buddy Pete from Kustom and Restoration Specialties in Marlborough Massachusetts (508-281-6171) came up with a fantastic looking and functional console. Amazing how he can create what I am doing a poor job of explaining.
The first locking compartment houses all of the switches for the fuel systems, NOS, electric fans and line locks.
The second locking compartment has room for storage and is where my IPod plugs in for the stereo.
You have to have cup holders if you are going to due the Power Tour.
And here are some shots of the front seats. I had seats out of a 2002 Camaro re-upholstered to resemble a '68 Houndstooth interior. The back seat has been done to match as well and I will try to get a picture of that up shortly.
Ok, that is it for now. Hopefully in the next update I will have some pictures of the completed convertible top on. It has taken way longer than it should and is holding up paint. But, as we all know, that is how it goes when wasting your money.

Those are called Clecos, in the airplane biz.
The color copper tells you they are a number 30 size. Blacks are 21, silver are 40's IIRC?
Those numbers are drill bit sizes.

Just received a finished rendering of what the car will look like when completed. Special thanks to Marty for referring me to Carter Hickman of Carter Hickman Designs. I really can't believe how cool the rendering came out and the accurancy of custom features (which my car has a boat load of) Carter can create with a computer generated rendering. If anyone would like his contact info please let me know, he is well worth it. Especially when you have been working on a project as long as I have - having the rendering gives you great motivation to just get it done.

Console & Top are 90% done

The console has been upholstered and is just about done.
All that is left is to install the window & door lock switches along with the shifter boot.
The top is on with one good pull left before it is finally attached. Should be finished up on Saturday.
Hard to believe from the pictures but there is a rear window.
