Re: 93 Typhoon #1070 150k miles Black / Black on North Jersey Craigslist

why does it have FL. plates and your in NJ

The plates are a Florida dealer tag, its an easy way to keep a few cars legally insured and registered. The title of the Typhoon is a clear New Jersey title- we are selling it for someone who replaced it with a Dodge Stealth turbo. My personal cars are registered and insured in New Jersey. I like to collect and sell rare/ fun cars - apart from the Typhoon, I also have (for sale) a Mercedes 500E, Tornado Red VW R32, and 04 Mercedes CL55 AMG - all which I use the FL Tag when I pull them out of the warehouse. :p

did you get that video

I took one on my (awful) Blackberry, but the file was too large to send via anything except bluetooth. I will either use my Panasonic camera, or borrow a friend's iPhone and do it tomorrow - my friend did warn me that the iPhone takes good videos, but when you send them via email or to non-iPhones they come out awful. :(

What BMW? Im really looking for a straight sale - but im a sucker for clean European cars... details?

Yeah Im looking to do the same, I need to pay for some architect fees I have coming up, but I've been kicking around the idea of a beater Ty to play with.

the BMW is a 98 540i, Sport Package, 6 speed, Black on Black Leather. I was asking $6500 with my OEM M5 Wheels on it, but Im refinishing the stock Style 32's this week and was planning on relisting it for $5300 after I got the wheels finished. I unfortunately don't drive it anymore, in fact I just got it inspected last week but it was way overdue, I dont think I have even put 800 miles on it in the past 12 months

The paint isnt great, it looks good from a distance, I get plenty of compliments, but its got a handful of blems and the nose has typical stone chips.

Here is a picture from SyTy Nationals outside of the Corvette Museum

Here it is just after I got it 4 years ago,

The M5 Kidney grills will go with the car, as will the Halo Projector Headlights (since the originals suck).

I do have new in the box, repro front & rear M5 bumpers, power folding mirrors, rear trunk spoiler (lip) and $700 OEM Hella Celis tail lights too, but those will all be sold separate, as will the M5 wheels if I cant get close to my asking price with them on the car. I also have an OEM M5 rear bumper diffuser since the aftermarket ones are not dual exhaust cutouts.

I've done a few grand worth of repairs and upgrades over the past 4 years, I know I wont see a dime of that back, but its piece of mind to know they are done. Ill list them all if interested, but I wont take up the space otherwise. The only thing "wrong" with the car is the sunroof just recently stopped working (fairly common on E39's), I dont know if its the motor or a problem with the track itself, but worst case scenario is $100, since that what you can pick up a complete moonroof cassette for from a salvage yard.

I am very familiar with the E39 5 series, I used to own a 2000 M5 Jet Black / Caramel Dinan S1 - it was an awesome car and I kind of do miss it. With depreciation really affecting 540/6speeds, they are one of the best daily drivers you can buy for the $5 - $8k range IMHO - best of luck with your sale, but people really love the V8 E39's you should be able to move the car quickly.

yeah I wish. All I got was tire kickers last time I had it listed. If I can't sell it cheaper with the stock wheels, its getting parted out.

Did you post it up for sale on bimmerforums, its a very active forum with an active for-sale section.

And tire-kickers are just a huge part of selling a car on the private market, I have lost count of the number of times people will ignore the ad you type up - go straight to the phone number and ask every question that has been answered in the ad, and then proceed to tell you they are coming to see the car - only to never show up and answer their phone. :2cents:
