You the man

Keep in mind, it's the "unofficial" number. Typhoons weren't built in VIN sequential order. We've all just agreed that the last 4 is the easiest number to use, since we all know that.

Check your windows, all OEM windows from what I understand have the full VIN etched into them.

Full VIN on OEM glass? That's something I've never heard. I'll have to look at mine.

Re: 93 typhoon number?

that i believe way back when was called "vin etching" by dealerships. they would tell customers "for $1500.00 we can vin etch all you windows to prevent theft and you'll also get a discount on your insurance" , and not so smart buyers would say "oh ok go ahead". then they call in a company and have it done in less than thirty minutes for under $130.00.

Re: 93 typhoon number?

My truck is a funny story, about ten or so years ago i used to work for a bodyshop refinishing company(a place that supplies the bodyshops). Anyways i was dropping off some supplies to a shop and there it was a 1993 white gmc typhoon. That particular shop bought and sold auction cars and stolen recoverys. I was about 23 and wanted it as soon as i saw it, but at the time i owned a newer z28 with the lt1 and couldnt afford it and had no place for it.
For what i can remember it had light damage to the front, light hood, grill, bumper damage. I think the ignition coloum was broke also. Lowlowlow milage 6 0r 7 thousand. Even though it was a sick truck i had to pass on it.
After that day and not putting much thought into the typhoon again a friend of mine comes by another friends car shop with? You guessed it the same 1993 white typoon. Honestly at first i was pissed, he scored and i missed out. He had the truck for a short while till he boned up and rattled a couple of pistons and taged some valves.
The truck was laid up for years till he tried to fix everything untill he just gave up. He happened to run into me at my job a month ago and he mentioned that he still had the truck and he was looking to sell it. It hadent been inspected or registered in four or so year and it has 16,000 miles on it today.
Even though the truck is all there it needs some tlc and time. My buddy who owned it in the past was younger and kinda had no direction with the truck ,he touched everything. So for the winter months ill have time to get it on point once again and maybe finish what he wanted to do or maybe what i wanted to have ten or so years ago.....
Soooo i guess thats why i dont have the vin tag under the winshield on the dashboard and after writing the guys(girls) on the board i went looking for some sort of vin. Quickly realizing it didnt have one.but inside the drivers door i found a yellow dmv id sticker which i think before you can sell a stolen recovery u have to get it approved so they no your doing it on a legit level and not using stolen parts or trying to do a insurance scam.
Either way i would trade it for anything......................
