94 S-10 Blazer hood & Sy hood

I'm parting out a 94 S-10 Blazer at my shop, and I wanted to put the hood aside for my Sy. Figured somewhere down the road I might need it or a fellow SyTyr might. But, when I looked in the parts interchange books, it shows different parts numbers. So, I call my GM guy and he's telling me there's a difference from the S-10 Blazer and Sy. Supposedly, 82-93 are the same, but 94-95 are different than our trucks. It doesn't look any different to me, but I never put the two hoods side by side. Just going on memory. My Sy is currently stored away, so I can't compare. Can anyone shed some light on this? Are the 94 and 91 hoods the same?

Re: 94 S-10 Blazer hood & Sy hood

all GMs books and numbers are screwed up from 1993 - 1995 I have found, since the pickup body style changed in 1994 and the suvs changed in 1996. For example, I dunno if anyone else has ever ran across this, but if I go to my GMC dealer and try and get a tranny filter kit for a 93 Ty, their computer says its a 4L60E and the kit they tried to sell me has a different part # and even looks different. I told them its a 700R4, but they are just like "our computer blah blah blah", so im like well its wrong, give them 700 kit, so they finally do so I was happy. I had them look up the vin for my 92 Ty just for the hell of it, it comes up at a 700R4, so go figure.

Moral of the story is, GM is stupid, most of their employees are idiots and im sure their books are written by idiots as well. If it looks like a 1st Gen hood, it will fit your truck.

What other parts do you have left from the truck BTW?

Re: 94 S-10 Blazer hood & Sy hood

Morgan, my ole man owns a used car dealer in Jersey City. His next door neighbor has a wrecking yard/scrap business. So, from time to time, a S-10 Tahoe/Jimmy/Blazer/P.U. will come in, get weighed, get slightly parted (aluminum, etc.), and then crushed. Luckily, I catch some of these trucks before they see the crusher. Usually the owner will put any truck/car aside that I ask him to. This allows me the time after work to pick off any worthy parts. This particular truck I'm parting right now has no interior, engine/trans, and is wacked hard in the rear. Fortunately, the hood is cherry! So, I figured I'd keep it. If there is anything you really need, then shoot me an e-mail or post. I don't know how soon, but most likely I can get it.
