A dilema selling the stock take-off parts

I'm trying to decide IF I should sell all of the take-off parts from my Syclone. I have all the stuff to return it to stock, in the event I was to sell it. However if these parts become damaged, wear & tear etc then they are no good to anyone. SO my point be should I cash in on them now, while they're still worth something & in good, stock, take-off condition or save them? does anyone think these trucks wuld be worth more if all the stock parts were included EVEN though the truck has over 100k miles on it.

having the same dilemma now, i have many of the stock take off parts of my truck. mine only has 45k on it and i'm also trying to decide if i go to sell it ever should i return it to stock. is it worth more in stock form?

i would prob put a stock engine back in though, but dang thats alot of work.

will be watching to see what other guys think

I would keep all your stock parts especially on the low mileage trucks. I have kept all mine. The cost and hassle of getting good quality parts will only get harder to find as the trucks get older.

I am of the opinion that you should keep the Sseries parts as well.

If your Syclone has 100k, I don't that makes it worthless. It will be more dependent on the condition as these trucks get older.

If you are going to keep the parts, pack them as if you are shipping them and label the boxes with their contents and put them away. You are correct in that they could get damaged, so pack accordingly.

keeping my stock full exhaust,down pipe,some other parts,hanging on garage walls, took parts off in 1998 at 9,000 mi. but put turbo in display case with trophies and other syty things. is this a good method to store the turbo???

I have a hard time justifying selling parts, being oem or aftermarket(atr, kb etc). It is sometimes tempting to sell some of it to recoup cost of mods, but I realize the parts are only going to get harder to find and possible more expensive. I also figure that I'll probably acquire more trucks down the road and regret selling the parts that I will need to use on them.

Completely agree. It's only going to get harder to find parts as these trucks get older. Sure there might be some regular S10s to score parts off of at a junk yard; but I would rather have clean parts than something that's been sitting outside for God knows how long and exposed to the elements.

I say save them.
Take for example my project. I had underpullies on it. I'm putting a supercharger on it now. Gave the factory stuff away years ago. Now had to scrounge around pull & save for replacements. Not fun...

I like that idea. You may want to give it a coating of wd-40 or something to keep rust from getting to it though.

The Ty we just bought has none of the oe parts so it really isn't an issue for me. Saving the parts like cladding or seats is one thing, but I'm not sure hanging on to the stock exhaust would be worth it unless you plan on keep the truck with VERY low miles. The true collectors would probably look at an exhaust that has been removed and replaced about the same as one that had simply been upgraded. I may be wrong since I don't exactly fall into that category......

i have found that the best way to store parts to keep them from rusting is to liberaly spray them sown with white lithium grease, wrap the parts in old t-shirts or something similar (to pull moisture away from the part), then wrap that in industrial or food grade plastic wrap. i was taught this by my grandfather who has stored engine blocks for over 20 years in this fashion. just spray a little degreaser on the part and wipe it down and the part looks like you packed it up yesterday.

Resurrecting my old thread here. Checking to see if the opinions remain the same? 3 years later...
After trying to sell my Syclone the past few months & seeing others for sale like Alwayscode390's, that we are in the same boat: not being able to sell. I have come to the assumption that having the stock take-off parts doesn't matter to these buyers. I've had several potential buyers & their biggest concern seems to be the mileage & price. I reiterate to them that the truck CAN be returned back to bone stock except for my awesome paint job. Who wants to buy a stock high mileage truck & pay what they are worth?

If you're going to do reversible damage only, then I say keep them.

when you had your truck up for sale I really considered it, just the trip out there would be insane. ive been trying to track down a decent syclone that's not a garage queen for a couple years. in my area it seems whenever a syclone pops up its up for sale for years because the guy always thinks its worth 18K with 90,000 miles on it.

but the question at hand- I think it should make the sale easier- including stock parts doesn't usualy get you much more money- but it usualy will make for an easier sale- because the buyer knows that whatever isn't his taste he can return back to stock
