a few kills with the clone

Well I've had the Syclone now for about 6 months and have not posted anything in the kills section, so here is a few:

1.) First is a new GT Mustang 05-08 model, this guy tails me for about 2 or 3 miles. We finally catch a light, I see his tag says RCE2WIN, so I figure he is ready. Light goes green and I floor it I put 10+ lenghts on him easy, I beat him so bad I assumed he was'nt trying. We catch another light and he gives the stang a couple of revs so When it goes green we hit it again, same thing happens 10+ car lengths.

2.) Next is a G 35 Infinity coupe, I follow him for 3 or 4 miles and he is flooring it at every stop, so I finally catch a light with him, I floor it and put 10+ lengths on him. We get to the next light and he is staring strait ahead, his young daughter is looking over at me and grinning. The light changes, and he lets me take off first, Funny thing he does'nt seem to be in a hurry anymore.:rotf:

3.) Next up is a 1998 Z 28, the guy is a co worker of mine. Car is basically stock exept for headers and K and N. I have been kind of scared to race him, figuring I'll get my ass handed to me. I'm going down the road minding my business and I hear someone reving their motor I look over and guess who:lol: We hit them from a 10-15 mph roll and I put 10+ lengths on him. Funny thing is I thought these cars were suppose to run low to mid 13's in the 1/4, but the best I ever saw him squeeze was a 9.14 in the 1/8.

I know what everyone must be thinking, what is it with him putting 10+ cars on everyone? It just seemed that I beat all of them close to the same.

4.) Well here comes number 4, me and the old man are cruising Thanksgiving night and come up to a light a car jumps in the other lane at the light. I mind you I am no Einstein on Import cars, and unless they have decals I have a tough time making out what some of them are. Well anyway the light turns green he nails it and I proceed. I pull about a car on him. We catch another light, I'm ready this time light turns green I floor it, and put 3 cars on him, with no boost launch and carrying a passenger. I get home and try to find what this is I just raced. Not really sure what it is except it is a hell of a lot faster than it looked. I come to the conclusion I raced a Toyota Supra, well a couple weeks later I go to O Reilly's to get some gunk and what do I see ? The car I raced, turns out the guy works there and it is a 95ish 240 sx Nissan with a turbo that runs 8.60's in the 1/8th. Guy said it had a 270hp motor in it out of a special edition japan model 240sx:roll:. I told him I saw you swerve out and looked like you wanted to race, he said yea, how many chances do you get to run a Syclone.

Well anyways thanks for reading my kills post, hope everybody enjoyed them. And BTW if I pull up next to a viper, Lamborghini, Z06, ZR1, my ass is going to sleep on the light. :):)

Too much ice and snow on the roads to do that in Alaska right now though the turbo loves this cold dense air. Is your Sy stock or modded?

AS FAR AS THE Z28 Kill. Back in 99. My friends bone stock 98 Auto TRANS AM would only run a best of 9.40 in the 1/8th. The 98+ Vetts were running 9.30s at the same track. ( NON Z06) This was at SOUTH EASTERN DRAGWAY in GA. (DALLAS) I figured the TA would of easily ran in the 8s!!!! I gues different tracks / Altitudes = diferent times?

Yep, there are some performance differences between Manual and Auto Transmisions on the F-bodies.

On stock tires, F bodies don't hook for crap. My 1/8 mile times always ranged from 8.50s to 8.80s. Hell, my 13.1 I ran was with an 8.62 1/8 I believe. I went on to run the 13.1 because I ran almost 113mph through the traps. Besides, if the F-body doesn't have an upgraded rear there is no sense in putting sticky tires on it. Sticky tires and stock rear = kaboom. If my Syclone was running right, I would definitely put money on it over my Camaro in the 1/8. However, if you don't let the Syclone launch get in your head the F body's top end horsepower should fetch it by the quarter. Bear in mind this is all stock for stock. The tracks I run at range from 500 to 1500ft elevation.

Re: a few kills with the clone

Thanks guys, what I thought to be the fastest were the slowest ones, and what I figured would be a piece of cake was a good running car. Oh and BTW the truck is stock with the exception of 160 degree thermostat, K&n filter, tranny cooler, and HD propshaft.

Re: a few kills with the clone

impressive.... most impressive that your truck had so few mods, and jumping out ten car lengths. makes me want to move to a warmer climate.

Re: a few kills with the clone

Impressive maybe, not so impressive were some of those cars. I've read the new mustang GT's run 13.5 1/4 mile times, and high 8's in the 1/8 mile. The best I have ever seen the new mustangs run are 9.45-9.50's in the 1/8 mile, could not say about a quarter time, as I have never been to a 1/4 mile track. I believe the G35's run mid 9 sec. in the 1/8 also. The Z28 I raced- automatic trans. BTW - best run I have ever seen him do was a 9.14 in the 1/8, and that was hooking. It is not all that hard for me to believe that a good running Syclone with a few mods, and a fresh tune could trail cars running in the 9's in the 1/8th. As for the 240 sx, I thought I might get beat, but I held him off. :D

Re: a few kills with the clone

The 240sx could have had a 270hp motor from japan probably a S15 Silvia SR20DET swap. Wasnt sure if you were doubting that from the eye rolling face you put. lol.
