Advantages of boost launching?

I am curious as to how much boost launching- verses just flooring it when the green drops, actually helps a stockish truck in the 1/8 or 1/4 mile. I've never launched my truck since I have had it - about 8 months, just wondering what kind of a difference it makes. I mean a proper boost launch and not one a rookie like myself would do. Thanks!

Its like turning on the afterburners. Full torque instantly with no lag.

Re: Advantages of boost launching?

There is nothing we can tell you that can explain the difference. Go out and boost launch that thing now and then come back and tell us how much faster you think its taking off. If i had to guess, you would probably pickup .3 to .4 with a good hard launch.

Years ago I tried my Gtech Pro using both methods. Brake to gas was 6.6 seconds 0-60. Boost launch @ 5-10psi was 5.14 seconds 0-60. It does make a difference & may break things & push through stock brakes.

I'll put a $100 bill on the dashboard. If you can reach forward and grab it at the same moment I do a launch, you can keep the $100.

No one has taken my money yet.

I have yet to ride in a car that the G forces are so great you cant grab a bill off the dash. I think it would take a 9 second ride.

Boy are you in for a surprise. I remember when I got my Ty. I had heard about its spectacular launching abilities but every time I mashed the gas I just crept off. Well, once I started driving the Ty, about a year after I bought it. I got it running pretty good and found a post on here about launching. I went out and tried it and holy crap was I shocked. Couldn't believe what I had been missing out on. You will see, you will be addicted, your life will be ruined;)

You know how you get a funny feeling in your belly when you go on a launching coaster like the rockin roller coaster at Disney? I get that same feeling when I boost launch. That always brings a smile to my face and a look of sheer joy or terror to my passenger!

I can't wait to try it with the newly rebuilt trans, with my new 9/11, cooler, and trans temp gauge. I remember the first one I attempted shortly after I got the Ty, and held it a little too long. Be very carful not to do this, especially if your running stock with no trans cooler. You'll feel the STRAIN it'll put on the truck too, and know why this can cause things to break. I need some more practice and hope to master this process. It's the advantage we have on the street.

Yup. Watch the edge of the hood as the front end lifts up and twists the truck, and stuff will start rattling. The C&D review described it pretty well. If you spin the tires just focus on keeping it straight, mine likes to slide to the left.

That's exactly how I describe the second time I drove a Typhoon (I don't think the first one I drove was tuned properly). Of course I didn't boost launch this Ty because a salesman was riding shotgun. BTW I'm pretty sure customrestore now owns the second Ty I drove.
