Re: Alcohol Injection???

well, heres my 2 cents, alky has been the absolute best money i have ever spent on my truck, next to a wideband...
I have a homemade kit, turn on at 8 psi or so with hobbs switch, virtually no tuning needed(for my truck), with 2-1mm aquamist jets its soild A/f's @20+ psi, I have 100 bucks into my kit cause i bought it from a friend, but for about 150-200 like dan said, you can make your own, Razors kit is awesome, but i like to do things myself and save a bit of money. alky is getting so popular summit now carries a kit to buy, I have not seen one downside to it, try it, if it doesnt work out, i know there will be someone else waiting to buy it off you on the site.

Re: Alcohol Injection???

Yup. I've seen it in the new Summit mag. Pretty sure they want like $400 for the entire setup.

BTW, What does the Razor Kit run? I still haven't heard any $$$ prices.

Re: Alcohol Injection???

Dan helped me with the alky kit and I love it, works awesome. I've never had a bog down problem, Mine turns on around 8lbs. My intake temps drop to 58 when spraying. As far as the tech support goes, like Dan said, it's pretty easy to play with yourself. If Dan can explain it to me then he can explain it to anyone.

If I remember right, the kits Summit are carrying are from Snow Performance. I can't say why exactly they're $400, but I'm pretty sure they're progressive. Not trying to justify, just present info. Their website has some info on Alcohol / Water injection.

There has been alot of research invested in water / alcohol injection. Here's a website: http://not2fast.wryday.com. Most of the information is related to Audis & such, but there is good information on there about water injection and NACA technical reports.

The NACA tech reports are pretty neat. NACA is NASA's (as in the space boys) old name (National Advisory Committee for Aeronautics). You say, what has that got to do with water / alcohol injection (boost fluid) on a turbocharged truck? Well, they did alot of testing on various airplane engines (most of them boosted) with various fuels and amounts of "boost fluid" and the corresponding dyno results. Is it apples to apples? Probably not. But I personally found it really cool to be reviewing data from tests performed in 1943 AND realizing that the physics involved in internal combustion engines hasn't changed significantly in 62 years. The controls have changed (EFI) but the process (4 cycle engine) hasn't. Check some of them out. One of them they documented a 88% increase in power by adding water / alcohol injection. That's a pretty big increase, you probably won't see anywhere near that. But its pretty cool to be reviewing War Board research.
