To those of you who've received my cable already and don't know what to do with it, I'm sorry. I meant to have something up already to explain it. I plan to add wire diagrams onto the schematic, so you'll be able to tell exactly what everything is.
The orange pair goes to the cigarette lighter plug. The solid orange is +12V, and the orange/white is ground. The blue pair is for the ALDL connector. The blue/white wire is soldered to the orange/white wire at the conversion circuit. In our trucks, you can ground either wire at either the lighter plug or at pin A on the ALDL and it will work. Other cars need to have another ALDL pin grounded to put it in "diagnostic mode". In this case, you can use the lighter plug to supply ground for the circuit and to the blue/white wire for grounding that other pin. The solid blue wire is your ALDL data wire, and goes into the lower right pin.
The conversion circuit requires 12V. You need to plug it into the lighter for it to work. If you don't believe me, unplug it. =) Other cables out there use 5V, which can usually be obtained right from the serial port, eliminating the need for the lighter plug, but also not working 100% of the time. This circuit also works on 160 and 8192 buad ECMs, so it should work with a lot of different cars (the only firsthand experience I have is with my Sy and S-10).
I've still got a couple to finish up on this run. Sorry again that it's taking so long. After I finish this run, I'll probably do something as there are still a number of people who want them. I'm not sure if I'll do another GP run, or just sell them individually off my site or what. But unless something comes up, I do plan to do something. But I'm not taking any orders or anything until I get these ones taken care of. I've got a list of people who've contacted me about them, so if you really want to make sure you don't miss out next time, just drop me an email and let me know you're interested, and I'll let you know when I figure out what's going on.
Thanks again everyone.
