Painful pics...but the important thing is that no one got hurt.

I don't know if it even would have helped in this case, but i think EVERYONE should carry a fire extinguisher in your truck. For $20, you can have a little piece of mind. (again, not sure it would have helped here). Go get one today!!

I cringed at the pictures. Such a rough way for a beautiful truck to go too. My buddy's mom had her second gen S truck start on fire while she was going 75 down the hwy, and the results were similar. :(

On the bright side, nobody was hurt and you can start the modding over with a different truck in honor of the first.

Thanks for all the kind words. It's great to see everyone say such nice things to someone most of them never met before. To answer the questions.....

It was insured...
American family Insurance.
I should be fine with the seattlement but will get screwed on the aftermarket products. When I originally insured the truck the wife went down and signed the final paperwork and somehow "i still don't know" waived the coverage for custom/upgraded parts....

It was tough to watch it go, i just shook my head and though WTF.....

The more I think about what happened, I'm wondering if I didn't spin a wheel bearing and have some grease leaking from the axle. The fiction from the brakes giving out could have caused the grease to catch fire.... just a different take.

The adjuster said I might have the option to keep the carcus if I want, so I will be going down to the towing lot tomorrow and see if anything is salvagable on the truck. It did have 3 inch borla exhaust, larger turbo, and engine only had 86k on it, so it might be worth a second look.

Lastly, the last 4 of teh vin were 1107 so it can be put down in the registry... Now I will need to deceide if I will be picking up another one soon....

Tony, if nothing else is good, the bumper supports should still be alright. What time will you be heading down there?

If you dont want to take the carcass at least try to take some of the bolt ons off, Exhaust manifolds should still be good, and the turbo exhaust housing, intake manifolds, center caps, stuff like that.

If it didn't get hot enough to melt the intake since it started in the rear I would think that some of the underhood stuff is still good, even the turbo!

Damn man. That sucks. At least it's insured and can be somewhat replaced. That sucks to see.

Re: And then there was 1 less 93 typhoon

I'm waiting for insurance to give me a buy-back price on the truck.
If it's cheap, you can bet I will buy it back and part it out on here.
It appeared that the engine, trans, turbo and transfer case are all good.
Exhaust might be fine, but not sure due to the wheels blowing out because of the heat, so not sure... Can't see under the truck very well.
The HD prop shaft and HD driveshaft should both be good as well.
i haven't decieded if I'm going to get another Ty or not, so i might do a full sell-out...
Stay tuned.
