Re: Annual Miami Wrench Session

I drove by the old Opa Locka airstrip today and saw no signs of activity. I hope this is for real and not some web hoax. I'm trying to find out for sure through a friend of the owner of the property.

Re: Annual Miami Wrench Session

Alright, im going to start calling people very soon if need be.

First and foremost, I just invited 11 new people to the FL mailing list. There is absolutely NO EXCUSE why we shouldnt have 20-30 trucks or more at Garys. In fact, I want there to be to many trucks where people have to start parking down the road, in the neighbors lawn across from the house, using Glenn's driveway, and the small parking lot down the street.

I want to see a response of "YES" from everyone coming, truck or no truck.

For those needing directions:

Gary Shanock
13200 S.W. 83 Ave
Miami, FL 33156

For the hotel, this one is just down the road and we have used it for years now :
Quality Inn
14501 S. Dixie Hwy.
Miami, Fl. 33176-7925
(305) 251-2000

Gary's house is VERY easy to find. When your on US-1, look for the Burger King and Shell Gas Station. 83rd is right in between them both and Gary's house is a few streets up. If you coming from the North, its after the GM Dealer on your LEFT... from the South, its after Publix on your RIGHT.

Gary's house is right on the corner, easily spotted by the burnout tracks all over the street.

PRIVATE MESSAGE OR EMAIL ME if need my cell number. I can also give out Gary's as well.

The last biggest meet we had was Naples 99. We had 40 trucks. It's been way to long to have another meet again with that many.

Whats the response on getting some new FAST shirts? I can get pricing and will design up a new shirt design for us. Estimate price is between $8-12 per shirt for a local shop near me that does quality work. If theres no interest, then Im not going to pursue.

This refers to the hotel, not my house. There is available but limited space at my house for anyone who wants to crash on the floor, a sofa if lucky or a cot or blow up mattress.

There is a guy here in town that ownes a shit load of land thats looking to put in either a 1/8 mile, or 1/4 strip if the city/county/state will let him for his own private use. Of course, he will open it up to a few of us that are in his friends group.

Ive sent you multiple invites. You have to respond to the invite in order to get on the list and start recieving email traffic. I can only do one half...up to you to do the other half. Let me know, I'll send you another.

As for the rest of you.... Gary called me from the junkyard the other day.

Got me thinking.

Last year, on Sunday a bunch of us cruised out to the local U-Pick over in Hialeigh (sp?). We came out scoring quite a few goodies, including a no wiper/defrost rear window which I found laying in a Jimmy in mint condition (try finding a good condition one...hell, just try finding one). A select few of us also had a good time busting glass and destoying misc items laying around as well.

Whos up for a junkyard spree on Sunday? Its on the way home for most of us, so no excuse of "its outta the way..." I almost gaurantee that you'll find something youve needed.

Gary walked out with a sunbird/syty cluster and an ECM when he called me. CHEAP.

Dont all answer at once now....

Re: Annual Miami Wrench Session

How about two 5 speed 4.3 S-10's in there? Didn't look to see if they were awd. Anyone want an fairly easy bolt in 5 speed conversion? Or an Astro van with intact front diff/axle assembly? Inventory changes frequently so I'm sure I miss out on lots of stuff.
Less destruction this time, I've been disappointed lately on some glass and trim items that were trashed for no reason. On the other hand if you want a dash cluster and don't have a torx with you brute force is all that works.
