Another LED/Flasher Thread (SOLVED)

Since it's never going to end anyway, I figured I'll install LED tail/brake light bulbs. (Front stuff will come later.) I got them from superbrightleds.com, and they went in with just a little trimming of the sockets. Here's the weird thing though... the left side is flashing at a normal rate, but the right side is hyper flashing. I did replace my turn signal flasher with an EP35 unit before I started, but with or without the parking lights on, I get the same result. Right now, I have the stock bulb installed in the right side, and everything works as it should, but I certainly don't want to keep it that way. The hazards work just fine. Also, I'm trying to stay away from having to use resistors. Any ideas are much appreciated.

Re: Another LED/Flasher Thread

Have you tried using different LED flashers? I use this site for all my lighting supplies:

www.v-leds.com

I've had great luck using this flasher:

CF12-ANL01

I should mention that I'm NOT using this on my TY, but other turbo cars that I work on

You may have a bum LED. If you swap sides with the LED bulbs, does the quick flash follow the LED bulb, or does it stay on the right side?

Does the LED flasher have a ground wire lead?
Yes, swap the left to right and see if it follows the LED. Do you have a burned out front on that side?

This is a good question. Is your LED flasher 2 prong or more?

Here is another good LED flasher that I've had success with on various cars:

Tridon EL12 (2 prong)

On the red truck, I have changed all the bulbs to LED. The electronic LED flasher I have has the ground tail wire and works great. I changed out the hazard flasher with an electronic one also.:2cents:

The CF12 (and EL12) is a two prong, and our turn signal flashers are three prong, but I did put one of those in for my hazard flasher. :)

On my way home tonight, the left side started hyper flashing too, so after a bit more research, I believe I do need a different flasher. The EP35L is made specifically for LEDs. I'll pick one up tomorrow and report back.

I'll look into that too. Is yours still a three prong, or two with a ground wire?

Can't remember. I thought it was a stock replacement, either 2 or 3 prong with ground wire coming out the top. I can look, but busy this week. Putting in 2 egress windows. Starting to dig this morning. I'll try looking tonight.

Re: Another LED/Flasher Thread

Yes indeed, the turn signal flasher is a three prong. The hazard flasher is a two prong. I just thought maybe FauXGT got one up on us with a three prong, plus a ground wire. :)

I picked up the EP35L today and it works great! I got the EP35 number from the full LED tail light conversion thread, but it seems, with just replacing the bulbs, the LED specific flasher is needed.

My EP35L came from NAPA and was about $20.

Thank you for all the input!
