Another Newbie!! Thanks for having me!

I'm sure you're all tired of newbie posts, but try to put up with one more.

I've been drooling over SyTy's since I was in high school (early 90's) and the time has come for me to take action. But here is my dilemma; in 1 year I'll need another daily driver. I drive roughly 40-50 miles per day so I need decent mileage. I also need stealthy speed. I need a backseat for my kid. Generally the Typhoon has everything I want but I'm not sure about mileage. Obviously it's not a fuel sipper but do they do at least 20 mpg highway? Somehow I doubt it but can anyone give me they're mileage estimates?

Thanks!!

I think you will see on average 17-18mpg for all around driving.

As far as reliable, leave it mostly stock and stay on top of things, and it can be OK. It will really depend what condition truck you buy.

That's not bad at all. I suppose I should expect quite a bit less from a Ty, correct?

Nice Omni!!! That thing HAS to be quick!

Yeah Ty's are about 200 lbs heavier, plus most people haul around more junk the ty's than they do in sy's.

Yeah, the Omni is pretty quick. Once I get the glitches worked out, it should run mid 14's. Not blazing fast, but fast enough for a daily driver.

How bout that, somebody else from Indy. If you get a Ty, that would make 4 Ty owners in Indianapolis on the board. However, the other 3 of us, all our trucks are in pieces, and who knows when they will get back on the road.

Anyways, back on topic. Only driven my Ty long distance once, other than driving it back from Cincy when I bought it. And it was in desparate need of a tune up. Whoever put Mighty spark plugs in it should be shot. Drove it down towards Evansville. Doing 65, I got 19mpg. Buy one anyways, and buy a beater 4 door Civic or something as a driver. If you are happy with 20mpg as a daily, get a Civic, the amount of gas you will save will make up for the cost of the pos.

Thanks for the welcome. There's been a Ty for sale in Castleton in the Wheels &Deals for the past several months. It has app. 50K and he's asking $17. I took a look at it and it was decent until I got around back. He had welded a bar for a trailer hitch on it. That threw up the red flag for me.....these are NOT meant to tow, right?

Looks like you're out at IRP alot? I went to the Street Legal Tuesday nights a few times this summer with my Goat. Got me hooked now.

I am in jeffersonville.

You got some locals up by you also, if you find a local truck take them along with you to look.

If you find one down my way let me know, in fact if you find one anywhere in country most likely we can find someone to look for you.

Is the one in Wheels and Deals black with pinstripe and hood deflector? If it is, it's been in there off and on for over a year. If you do find one local, I can look at it with you if you need. Tow hitch = bad.

I'm at IRP almost all summer. Tuesday night dont work for me since they don't prep the track for shit on Tuesdays.

Where in Indy you at?

I'm actually right between Greenwood and Bargersville.

Yes that's the one with the hood deflector. Its otherwise a pretty clean truck. Thanks for the offer, I really hope something pops up locally around October of next year (when my lease is up). I will definitely need guidance.
