-another-Speed Inc TT LSX Typhoon build

We were approached by the owner of a stock 93 Typhoon about building the truck and retaining the 4.3 V6.

Since I (lead tech/fabricator here) had already built myself a twin turbo LS1 powered Typhoon that consistently runs 9's on pump fuel, it wasn't hard to show him the advantages of switching to LS power.

Going into the truck is a 427ci LSX shortblock built by Texas Speed. 226/230 115lsa comp hyd roller cam, TFS 245 heads and an LS2 intake manifold.

Exhaust is dual 3 inch downpipes going into a Magnaflow muffler with dual 3in inlets and a single 3.5in outlet.

Trans is a customer supplied Rossler 4L80E.

Rearend is a Strange 12-bolt with a tru-trac diff.

The stock front torsion bars and control arms were replaced with a coil over setup from RPM.

Turbo system consists of flipped/modded 2010 Camaro manifolds, Precision 6262 Ball bearing turbos, Precision wastegates and 2 Precision 500hp air/water intercoolers.

Fuel system is twin in-tank walbros, stock fuel lines, 80lb injectors and will be ran with a stock PCM and HP Tuners 3bar speed density operating system.

thats a good possibility, when i built my truck the 2010 cars were still a year out so i didnt have the opportunity to try those manifolds, which take a very slight amount of work to get in the truck, not including the end that terminates into the turbos....so what Im getting at is I may jig the manifolds up and duplicate them which dramatically reduces the cost over fabricated headers. It would be just the manifolds sold so the end user would hae the option to build the rest themselves

Dan nice work....and quick too. I bet it went a lil quicker since you laid the ground work on yours. I like your idea for the manifolds, as this is turning out to be a increasingly popular mod. You mentioned stock PCM (Ty or F-Body)?

I'll remember to bug you again about Homecoming when it gets closer. Take a short break for a Sy/Ty gathering and car show, and show off your truck...and NEW LS Swap manifolds.

thanks it was nice meeting you,it will use a stock f-body ecu.same as my truck, and yes it has gone much quicker this time I have been on it for just over 90 hours so far and the fab work is 98% done, although i did a lot of things differently on this one that i would definatly do on mine if i re-built it

I was wondering what that Garnet Typhoon was doing outside in the snow when I went to check out Speed Inc.

Awesome build!! Maybe I can check it out sometime.

What made you go into one muffler and not two? ---

as we all know the gas tanks in these arent conducive to running a dual exhaust out the drivers side,Im sure it can be done but there is a ton of clearance going to a single tail a pipe, and its not worth the risk of rattles and contacting things that shouldnt be with a dual system. Also the singe tail pipe kind of stays true to the roots of these trucks

The truck looks great so far. Keep up the good work.

Will this truck be getting a roll cage?

Quick question: Are the manifold cast iron or carbon steel? Cast is a PITA to weld to without a pre/post heat process. My brother and I have just put a LQ4/4L80E into his 1980 Camaro and this type of setup would work VERY well in there.

as far as i know they are just cast iron,bu they seem to have a high steel content because they weld very nice, although i still have to do a pre/post heat process
