My machinists looked at those exhaust manifolds and said he could easily machine a v- band out of the stock flange. Then there would be no welding to cast. But in these trucks it would put the turbo up very high.

right we looked at that option, but not only would it put them to high it would also place them way to far back especially on the drivers side

Thanks for the quick answer. I almost had a heart attach when I looked at the site. Over 2k, then I realized it included the alt, pwr steering pump, ac compressor and everything else needed. Not bad.

yeah its not a bad deal when you figure in all of the parts that it includes, and the workmanship is 2nd to none

This might end up being my favorite build. Great color combo. Great worksmanship. Can't wait to see it done.

Re: -another-Speed Inc TT LSX Typhoon build

We were approached by the owner of a stock 93 Typhoon about building the truck and retaining the 4.3 V6.

Since I (lead tech/fabricator here) had already built myself a twin turbo LS1 powered Typhoon that consistently runs 9's on pump fuel, it wasn't hard to show him the advantages of switching to LS power.

Going into the truck is a 427ci LSX shortblock built by Texas Speed. 226/230 115lsa comp hyd roller cam, TFS 245 heads and an LS2 intake manifold.

Exhaust is dual 3 inch downpipes going into a Magnaflow muffler with dual 3in inlets and a single 3.5in outlet.

Trans is a customer supplied Rossler 4L80E.

Rearend is a Strange 12-bolt with a tru-trac diff.

The stock front torsion bars and control arms were replaced with a coil over setup from RPM.

Turbo system consists of flipped/modded 2010 Camaro manifolds, Precision 6262 Ball bearing turbos, Precision wastegates and 2 Precision 500hp air/water intercoolers.

Fuel system is twin in-tank walbros, stock fuel lines, 80lb injectors and will be ran with a stock PCM and HP Tuners 3bar speed density operating system.

I had intercoolers mocked like these in my truck, I didn't have the room for the pipes on the pass side. (a/c lines ) Do you have plans to run the heat exchanger in the stock location?

LOL I also bought a set of the 2011 camaro manifolds, thought they might work on a n/a build. I like the idea of no water tank in the back. GREAT BUILD.

thanks, but i dont understand what you mean no water tank in the back, there will still be a tank in the back to hold the water that will circulate in the intercoolers.

Yeah, I thought maybe a small tank on pass side inner fender. thought maybe the 2 intercoolers with the lower radiator would be enough. I'm sure you have that worked out .

No disrespect intended, but why build these sick fast trucks and not put any safety equipment in them? The truck is obviously built to run very fast times at the track, but no organized track will let you run....Also not great for the frame/body to handle hard launches without some sort of stiffening. Not to mention if there ever was a crash the driver would have almost no chance of surviving. Just trying to understand the logic....Again no disrespect, the build is awesome.

non taken, the reason for my customer and myself is that for the limited amount of time these trucks are at the track the trade off for the inconvenience just isn't there. And in reality the times that they are at WOT on the street realistically is from stop light to stop light, and no real high speed runs. For me personally with a wife and 2 kids constantly getting in and out of the family truckster its just to big of a pain to justify it,yeah i know crashing would suck, and u probably wouldn't walk away from it,but at this point I just can justify it.Every winter I get the itch to put a cage in and every year it turns in to the same internal argument with myself, however I do have to say that if they ever move the Drag Week schedule back to the mid west I definitely will consider it just so i can run that event, and fwiw there are 2 tracks local to me that allow me to run,one of them never says anything and the other gives me 3 runs w/o any issues, then tells me to slow it down after the 3rd

It may be enough to keep the air charge cool for mild street use,but i dont think the capacity would be great enough for a hard pull, let alone a burn-out,2 step launch and a full 1/4 mile pass

Sounds good to me...Knew there had to be a reason. I race mine often and am in that mindset. Thanks for the kind response. Good luck with the build.
