Trucks TV show pitted the Lighting against the 454SS in there episode. They only briefly mentioned the Syclone. The 454SS did 16.3 in the quarter :rotf: . The Lighting did 15.9 :rotf: . They should have thrown a Sy in there!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Sounds like they are going to pump both motors out in the next episode.

I saw it. They said the Lightning was built to go after the SS and kick Syclones to the curb. Fat chance! It was funny. They went into production figures for both vehicles and considering the rarity of our trucks, I would not expect them to ever do a segment on a buildup. Maybe some mentions here and there but that is about it.
I have seen a SS truck tuned to run in the 12's. Was basically all stock components and a laptop on the passenger seat. Totally cool guy. He was handicapped and had the truck set up for him to drive with all the hand controls. This guy could drive. This was about 10 years ago. With what is available in today's market, the show should be able to make these trucks fly.

i talked to a guy along time ago about the 454ss, who had some insider knowledge and he said the first couple of buildups for the ss were great with a ton of power but corporate said it couldn't have more power than the flagship(vette) and they detuned it so bad that some of the 350 fivespeed trucks in similar platform were faster. go figure
he also noted with small bolt-ons you could easily see 100+ over stock with no internal mods, but throw a cam and heads and the thing comes alive.

About as bad as ours,but for a big block, ports are way too small.
IIRC ,,they are round ports.

i havent seen this episode but if ur talking first gen lightning, those things r pigs just like the detuned 454ss. :rant: :tdown: i think we should all make a right up to spike tv or speed channel whatever one its on(i forgot
) and have them challenge a sy. hell they can even use my ty for the show. its pretty much stock. :lol:
