Anyone else with KB headers have this problem?

Had the Ty on the lift on monday to do spark plugs and noticed that when I turn the wheels right, a steering joint scrapes my crossover pipe pretty bad. I noticed about a month ago that there was a vibration on hard right turns, but I don't see how the crossover could be positioned to avoid this. I got a pic of it, but the lighting is bad. I'll see if I can post it later.

Steering joint? As in shaft? Do you have the stock shaft or an aftermarket one? Might be as simple as going to a aftermarket one to fix this. :dunno:

Not the shaft. Let me find a host and get my pic up.

How old are your motor mounts? Check them out.

ya. I've got a truck with solids and it hits the crossover as well.

Yep. Thanks. I don't know how old the motor mounts are, but the truck only has 48,900 miles on it, and has a ratchet strap holding the engine down.

So is there a fix, or is this a "Live with it" thing?

Mine don't seem to hit in that area, so I can't help you out much there. That pipe hit against the frame on that side when I had poly mounts, but I have ~1/4" of clearance now with the solid mounts. Having a new pipe made with better bends in that area would be best as it seems as though it would be a fairly simple pipe to make. It looks like angling it up more after the wastegate flange would solve a lot of problems.

most of the kb headers i have seen rub on the pitman arm when the wheel is turned. not sure why, but they all have huge dings in the pipe which often lead to cracks/leaks.
