I just pulled the gov out of myclone to replace it with a diff one.. Well, the one that came out looks "interesting" compared to what I was gonna put in. I aint goin any further till I know what Ive got on my hands here since its a PIA to swap them if I have the wrong parts.

Can someone post or know where to find a pic of a STOCK syty governor?

TIA..

Hey Guys. Don't forget, the differences between the governors are the springs and weights..., those items are what determines what rpm the tranny shifts.... You would be hard pressed to view the differences in a Jpeg... I got a new ty governor for $60... before I knew that I could of bought a replacement plastic gear for $3.50.... The sy's governor is different because of the weight of the truck.... B&M sells a governor kit that fit's the bill.... about $35 from summit, if they have em in stock..... you can alter the shift points with this kit... ask Brian Hartman about it... he may even have the gram weight of the counterweights versus shift points and springs required, if I know him at all.... make sure you have some good rods before exploring the 5500 rpm + range....

Point well taken.. FYI the stock syty gov looks WAY diff than any other 700 governor that Ive seen. Then again Im NO trans expert so I was just checking things out before going through the PIA process of swapping them.

Im not going for 5500+ RPM shifts. Im just after a 4900-5100 2-3 shift. Going by datamaster my 1-2 shift happens right at 4900 but my 2-3 shift happens at 4700 which pulls the motor too low in the power band (~3100) IMO.
