Anyone know about Viper alarms?

My Sy has an old school Viper alarm on it. Dont really like it but it does allow we to remote lock my doors.

I removed the alarm horn becasue it was in the way of my IC lines and it sounded weak.

My question is since I removed the horn would this send a signal to the control box not to fire the engine?

It has one of those 2 way switches that has to be flicked to get the truck to start. But now it wont start in either position.

I am thinking perhaps my starting problems are not ignition related but perhaps from the alarm system.

is there a way to disarm it without fully removing to test? none of the associated fuses are blown.

It was distributor related. I was chasing a starting issue and it was unrealted to the alarm. but I dont have much experience with these alarms so i was just looking at anything i changed.

In looking at the alarm system its tied into everything. would get rid of it if it didnt scare the hell out of me. learned my lession just to leave things alone.

Its not hard to remove an alarm. I did it to mine and i have to say it looks great under my dash, nice and clean. Start with disconnecting the alarm brain and then follow each wire to were it is tapped into your factory harness and cut it. Of course dont leave any bare wires.

The funny thing is that i had two issues before i removed my alarm and i removed the alarm not to fix those two issues i just hated all the bunch of wires hanging all over the place under the dash and the alarm didnt work to well so one morning i got rid of it all. After i saw all those dam wires on my bench i just couldnt believe it. After that the truck had no delay on starting. Sometimes i would have to hold the key for about 2 seconds before the starter came alive. The next issue was the factory alarm or should i say the lock and unlock feature from factory worked. It opens the back glass unlocks drivers door and when i hit unlock twice the passenger locks. I was a very happy person.
