I have a pic of my B&M trans cooler.....the mounting tabs needed a little bending to fit.

Sorry, kinda beat up but that's what it looks like. I mounted it up a little higher to make a smoother bend on the hoses.

It was on the truck when I got it. I don't think anything was cut for clearance, the owner just kind of stuffed it in there, bending up the fins a little.

Yes it does. At least in my case I did. I also had to modify the lock support.

Yes...you need to notch the bottom! ATR used to send a new support that was already clearanced for the cooler when they were business back in the day.

Sorry to dig old thread, we never did get a pic of the support I am planing to run a similar cooler and hoped someone had pics of the support and how the hoses run.
I have found allison transmission coolers that are the same as the atr cooler for about $120 Thats alot more affortable then changing to A2A or dutch ty CAC.

It says the 1241 has 1/2 inch fittings. IMO that severely restricts water flow. I would spend the extra bucks on the bigger 3/4 inch fitting cooler.

The 1241 is rated for 2-16gpm, the 1260 is rated for 3-24gpm and it has 3/4 fittings. How many gpm do we need? I think it would work fine.

The 1/2 and 3/4 fitting coolers use the same size header so only the fitting inlet is different. The 3/4 fitting coolers have a bigger core area so they flow a little more but they would be more work to fit.

IMO it is not so much about gpm, as making it easy on the pump to push the water.

Some sections I have in the intercooler plumbing has only 3/8ths hose,it flows just fine & cools fine. It's not the best ,mind you,but like I said it cools just fine. On a 95+ degree day,full 1/4 mile pass,m.a.t. climbs to 120 degree F. @ the end of a pass.21 psi
The sureflow pump itself only has approx 3/8th .375" inlet & outlet anyways,never had any problems with it cooling.
I see water flowing very quickly through my intercooler.

Yes, youre right about costs but its more than twice its cooling surface and more than 3x times its cooling capacity.
So please don't compare it only in costs:roll: take the whole story.
