Broke Ass Racing
I am looking to get an oil pan for the new motor that is going in the truck, but ran into an interesting dilemma:
In order to get a reasonable amount of oil in the pan of these motors (7 quarts), and keep AWD, the pan ends up being 10" deep. This is if I go with an RPM pan, or the configuration that Stef's, Moroso, or anyone else has drawn up for this motor. The problem is, no one makes an oil pump with a pickup that will work in a 10" deep pan. I was planning on using the Moroso 22171 pump, but that is for an 8.25" deep pan. I have talked to both Moroso's and Melling's tech support departments, and both tell me that I am out of luck when it comes to running a 10" deep pan.
What are you guys with high capacity pans running for an oil pump?
