Went for my usual Sunday morning run to the bagel shop to get some for me and the wife. On my way home, I see an S8 come up behind me. The guy cuts me off w/o a signal. So I mosey on over and get in front of him w/o a signal. So we get on a part of road where its long and a left turn and up hill. At teh bottom wherre it starts to go up he guns it around me nad I gun it too. He gets his rear at my front bumper and gradually pulls away to about a car. Im not sure how fast we were going but we were cruising and I started to pan out and if it werent for traffic ahead and the fact that the TY cant handle worth a damn, I think I wouldve taken him. So he gets in front of me, barely, and flips on the hazards. I thought it was awfully strange an older guy in a $80k Audi would flip in the hazards. So After about 5 minutes I catch him at a light. I point forwards motioning to race and he shakes his head no. I yell out to him "dont but an 80k car and then back down from a Blazer. He was chinese or somethign and started speaking the language and was shruggin his shoulders. I launched anyway just incase and flipped on the hazards. Always wanted to race one of those. They are pretty sweet.

there ight but the rs6 is where it's at...got to drive one a few times ...one of the good things about being a valet...

Probably couldn't even see you over the steering wheel, your thinking he did this intentonally and the whole time you were in his 360* blind spot :rotf:

The RS6 is slow.

I took one out for a lengthy test drive a couple weeks ago and came back disappointed. While in the midst of the test drive, my buddy in the back seat asks me when I'm going to go WOT...and I had to tell him I already went WOT....twice. :(

The new S6 with the V10 is slow too, but it does sound pretty awesome.

I'm waiting for the RS4 to be available with the DSG trans. Hopefully it happens. :cool:

yea i mean i didnt get to drive it a lot only to the parking lot...its not that far away it sounds really good and off the line it seems like its real fast but i didnt get to drive it foe real...and the brakes will put u through the windshield

OK, I got to drive both RS6 & RS4 and when I say drive I mean beat the shit out of it. RS6 is fast will easily run low 12's on 1/4 mile I only wish it was stick but Audi stayed with auto. RS4 is OK but I would go with early S4 V6 biturbo my friend Mike from Wicked Motorsports has a fast one 681 AWHP Street car. Anyway RS6 will easily smoke anything on the street even 996 Turbo. I know I specialize in Porsches aseptically 993 & 996 Turbos

I'm thinking you meant to type "especially" instead of aseptically, since aseptics deal with pathogenic micro-organisms. In any event, a RS6 might hang with a 993T but it isn't happening in a 996TT. I owned a 996TT for two years and ran against a RS6 twice. One run was in Germany on A7 for about 1/2 mile and tapping 170 mph; the other had no end and was through the Brenner Pass in Austria. Simply blew the guy away after exiting the toll booth and stayed ahead until he faded away for good through the high speed sweepers. Both times, the RS6 wasn't a viable competition source and aside from HRE wheels, I was stock.

Yes, My bad I meant to type especially! And I agree on high speed runs 996TT will take RS6, US RS6 models are governed to 155 mph but stop light to stop light not really depends on who is driving 996TT. Motor Trend magazine got 12.63 seconds @ 109 mph out of bone stock RS6. My customers RS6 ran 12.29 @ 112 mph bone stock. Most 996TT's I've seen stock run 12.40 but I have also seen them run 12.20 when drivers know what they are doing I personally got 12.21 out of a 996TT but the car had an exhaust so I can't say it was stock.
Oh yea and don't take the Motor Trend over my customes RS6 Need I remind you they got 13.7 seconds at 98.5 mph. out of a Syclone when every one else was getting 13.1 he he.

The factory owner manual (of all things) for a stock 996TT lists the performance as 11.92 sec at 116 mph....guess in reality like you said, it all depends on who is driving it.

chip from www.awe-tuning.com good for +50 HP on the RS6. Get some other goodies and you can make 600 easy on that platform. I am a huge syclone fan, but also have an affinity for RS6. Bottom line is you can spend 60k on a used RS6 and put 5k into and have a beast, or u can get a used syclone for 15 and spend 20k to have a beast. Both will be a stop light warrior, but top end Syclone is getting owned. My 2 cents, I love them both.

I have never seen a stock 996TT in California with 91oct run 11's My Friends X50 supposed to run 11.70's but the best we got out of it was 11.90's. Like I said we are in California & so is 60% to 70% of all Porsches Gas here is 91 not 93. Or like in Russia & Europe 95 - 97 & 98 - 99 Some places 100-103 octane. I think T-bone you would agree that gas octane will play a big part on 996TT's performance. Owners manual claims 11.92 but most owners in Cali claim 12.40's including Gene Segal my friend and customer & Rolex Series driver.
