Auto X at Carlisle

In and effort to improve upon the event from last year, we had a lot of folks that were hoping we could add some racing activities. Working with Carlisle, they are willing to let us to an Auto X set up, right at the event on their Carlisle Road Course. Its on site and they will let us do it under the lights. Preliminary thoughts are to do it Saturday evening, after 5pm when the show closes, and do a group BBQ and do some racing. We will have the course to ourselves. I've spoken with Michael Hood and the SE guys and they will be coming up with their expertise and timing gear so we can make the most of it. We will provide more details as we iron things out. Thanks!

PLEASE READ!!!!!

****To add to the list of cones, if you have CHALK...OR....PIECES OF DRYWALL (small enough for one person to carry around), that would be great too and helps out with marking out the course.****

Id like to ask for EVERYONE who wants to run...or considering to run their truck on the AutoX course, PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE do a once over on your truck and make sure it can pass a somewhat laid back tech to be prepared. It'll help us in the long run with getting setup and running trucks on the course quicker.

We want to be safe and make sure this can be continued for future Carlisle events.

- No loose items floating inside the cab or bed (pens/pencils, papers, tools, etc)
- Be prepared to remove your floor mats
- If you have center caps that easily come off (i.e not tight), be prepared to remove them
- No leaking fluids
- Battery is held down
- Seat belts work
- HELMET

2 items to bring:

- Tire pressure gauge
- Portable air pump

Trust me, you will need both. Im sure there will be a few gauges and pumps being passed around and borrowed, but if you are able to bring your own, it makes things go by quick instead of 20 people trying to fill up tires on 1 available air pump.

Like I said, it'll be laid back since we are running it ourselves....but the above listed things are important enough that it should be mentioned so there are no surprises and there are no preventable accidents.

One thing I will mention, If anyone has access to orange traffic cones, please LMK. I am willing to purchase them or borrow them for the weekend. We keep 70 cones on hand, but we usually like to have over 100 for a full autocross.

Looking forward to this!

I believe I will be attending and helping Hood with the AutoX. Clothes are optional at that point.

To the Florida guys... DONT bring Harmon. He will ruin this for everyone.

Yea, the ZL1 will make quick work of knocking down cones. Much better than the yellow Camaro.

Maybe we should talk the guys at Trans Am Depot into going, and we can let Harmon have a go at the cones with the GTO conversion that Adam was salivating over. I bet he could knock them all over very quickly with that car.

Re: Auto X at Carlisle

I'll be drafting up the rules and classes next week, but it'll be very similar to a standard autocross. I need to talk to Tom and go over a few things, but my hope is to have a reward for the top drivers in each class. Whether that will be financial or otherwise will be determined. One option is what we do in the Pro class where we just do a basic BIPO (buy-in-pay-out) pool where, say 20 people toss in $20 and the top drivers get a tiered payback. Again, this is all cart before the horse stuff at this time.

Having said that, I'll be updating this thread and the FB page with info as we get it.

As the unofficial camera person documenting this event, I will need to ride shotgun with someone to capture a run on video. Preferably someone with speed and experience.

In fact, I think I should ride along in every class.

I will likely only vomit once from motion sickness.
