Back window smashed out, items missing - New window or Junk

Well someone decided that my window didn't need to be in one piece anymore. Bastards stole my Ibanez guitar (autographed by Metallica), brand new video camera and my dry cleaning leaving only one pair of good pants. Jack ass stole my dirty clothes.

I wouldn't think the rear window is specific to the Ty, so I will call the local yards looking for one. Probably less than my deductable. Anything I need to know before searching? Thanks guys

Sorry to hear about that Erik. Same thing recently happened to me I hope they catch the guy who broke it, they never found the guy who broke mine :wink: I called Dal at VanDeVere GMC as he is the parts guy to go for if you have a SYTY need. He checked around and that window is not made anymore, try a junkyard or have one made at a glass shop. I got one from a Junkyard for $50 but it has that stupid metal frame around it so I'm just going to take it to a glass shop and have one custom made. Doesn't insurance cover it?? I'd take it to a reputable glass shop, shouldn't be a big deal at all...Good luck...

Well the local Auto Glass place said he had one in stock, wiper through the glass, heated, privacy tint (same as sides), no handle (mine is still locked), no metal frame around it, for $359.54 installed. Damn.

Going to call the yards now.

Yeah Insurance will cover it, but I am hesitating.

A. I also insure my motorcycles with them and that's a whole other topic
B. Was on hold for 2 hours waiting to get a police report that I will need for auto, still on hold.
C. Homeowners will cover all the missing items, already have a claim in, sending receipts, no need for police report.

Called the place I got my car alarm from, bitched them out because it didn't go off, they were nice enough and said they will upgrade my Viper system for free. But I will need a police report. Big friggin circle.

I have never had a car stolen from me (knock on wood) and can't imagine the frustration that brings. This is enough for me.

Sorry to hear that happened. I wouldn't even dream of parking my truck in the driveway for a night around here. Sometimes I even go around the block if someone is driving behind me just so they don't see what house I live at. I don't think my truck would last a week if I didn't park it in the garage. Good luck on getting the glass fixed.

Damnnnn... Sometimes (well all the time) I bitch and whine about living in podunkville but I guess I am lucky in some ways... I don have to go through all that and prolly dont have to lock my doors (I do anyway)..

Hell, I leave the keys in the yota 24/7.. On the other hand I could park it down town with the keys in it, a fifty dollar bill on the dash, and the doors unlocked but someone would prolly take the money and leave the truck... Its def not a prestine axample of a toyota truck..

I have bought a new rear smoked glass for about $225, and installed it with the help of a buddy, not hard at all.

As long as you get 1 off a 90 + Blazer, Jimmy, or Bravado, it should not have the metal trim edge on it. Besides, earlier years rarely had the wiper. The go here in Cleveland from $60.00 to $80.00 around town so don't be ripped off!

Ins companys are geting tougher and tougher on everything, I usually say if its under 500.00 ill pay for it, it makes things easier in the end.

Call around to The glass places in the shady parts of town, The prices Drastically drop.
A back window for an excursion i had got busted and need to be replaced i called around to the So called best price available and they told me 900.00 dollars and 2-3 weeks special order, i called the place in the shady part of town. 349 installed and they came out to me That Day.
