Baer Rotor Replacement

Hey guys, I have the old school Baer Brakee upgrade (silver calipers) with the drilled slotted rotors, I know they use the 80 something to 95-96'ish corvette pads, but what rotors can i replace them with? I'm very low on cash and just need some basic "plug and play" rotors for this set up. doesnt matter if theyre drilled oor slotted... would 95 corvette rotors work?

c4 vette rotors, take one of yours in to mach up, or have a good parts store run the numbers on the rotors, as Bear just drills and slots off the shelf rotors

Re: Baer Rotor Replacement

If you have 13" x 1.1"rotors, it's the 88-96 Corvette 13" J55 Rotors.

Most of the 12" x 1.1" Baer are custom rotors (Initially they turned the 13" rotors down)

Their are few older Baer 12" rotors that use the 88-95 Corvette 12" x 0.81" Rotor.

You will need the correct rotor for the application as you can't mix and match parts with swapping calipers or Caliper brackets.

Re: Baer Rotor Replacement

I dont know at all what brake set is on there, so if I bring a rotor down to my local auto parts store, they should be able to tell me from there i guess?

The previous owner didnt even know what brake kit it was, and he got the truck on '03 so i know the kit is older than that... all I can say is it has silver calipers as opposed to the red ones ive seen on the newer conversions. It should be 12 or 13 straight across im reading, ok i'll check em out tomorrrow. Thanks everyone

Re: Baer Rotor Replacement

turns out i have the 12" x 1.1 rotors, so i cant use the regular replacements and i dont have the 13" rotors and i have stock wheels... so whats my option? who would turn down 13" rotors for me? or what brake kit could I buy and bolt in to get something easier to replace like one that works with some easy to aquire off the shelf rotors (f body, corvette, w/e)

I would just buy the rotors from Baer, I don't think all their rotors are super expensive. Your only other option is to put in a different brake kit.

I supose you could also down grade to the 12 x 0.81 rotors. You would need the 88-95 Corvette calliper that go with that rotor (the calipers look very similiar but the brake opening is smaller).

Re: Baer Rotor Replacement

would those calipers just bolt right in? Might be a good idea for now. I'm on a really limited budget at the moment so I cant spring the cash for the baer rotors I think i saw them for like 150 each for the stock ty application. I cant get in contact with baer bc their phone number doesnt seem to be valid...

btw, is the 1993 corvette front brake setup better than what comes stock on the typhoon? (even just a little?)

$150/each is probably what I expected.

The 12" calipers would slip in with the brake pads/pins holding them in. You need to reuse the Bear brackets and the stock looking brackets (the mounting tabs are actually cut off and drilled and tapped to fit Baers brackets)

I am not 100% sure they will fit but I am 99.9% they should. I don't see any reason they would not fit, but I don't know of anyone who has done it.

Re: Baer Rotor Replacement

im trying to figure this out a bit. The calipers wont just fit into the same brackets I have right now? Isnt the baer caliper just a c4 caliper with a wider gap? You mentioned i need both new c4 brackets and the baer brackets, just dumb it down a bit for me i have no idea whats modified on the front of this truck lol I diddnt put this brake kit it, nor did the previous owner... I wish I could just have an ls1 kit and call it a day butt im way too broke for that. All this headache is killing me...these rotors are so bad that im replacing my pads every 6 months or less

Sorry if I confused you, yeah reused the caliper bracket you have now.
