Banjo fitting at turbo question...

Hey, gang.

My Uncle's truck is back in the shop, and they think they finally found a leak. I'm told it is the banjo fitting at the back of the turbo, to the I/C. I can't get to the truck for a pic, so I'm hoping someone here knows what I'm talking about.

The mechanic says that he already talked with GM, and they laughed at him.

I did some searching of the site, and found older posts referring to 14x1.5mm banjos to -6 AN fittings - am I on the right track?

I will be directing the mechanic to Sportmachines, and probably 034motorsport, ATP Turbo, and Earl's. Has there been any new "for sure" parts developed in the SYTY community for this?

Thanks for any help you can provide.

It depends on exactly where the leak is. If it's the seal then you can buy that at the auto parts. By seal I mean the banjo fitting is clamped to the turbo housing by that bolt.

In order it goes: bolt, copper washer, banjo fitting, another washer. That "assembly" is screwed to the turbo housing and clamped there. I doubt the banjo fitting ITSELF is bad. There is a line coming off the bottom that goes to the drain fitting on the block on that side. I also doubt that the leak is thee also, but could be. If it is, a replacement should be easy to find. (I'll look later.) If the line is cracked/leaking somewhere else than cut it above the leak and fill in the gap to the block fitting with a new hose.

Thanks guys. We're in the Battle Creek area.

Don, that's what I was reading about that "assembly". I don't have a clicky phone, so I'll have to have the mechanic send a pic through email, then forward, yada, yada...
Do the washers have a part number? I read in one post that they are the same as the oil drain plug washer.
I'll ask for a picture, and try to narrow this down.
You folks are the greatest ;)

OK. Go here an you'll see what we're talking about. Don't bother with a pic. Just be positive the leak is at the fitting and not somewhere else fooling you into thinking it's the banjo fitting.

If it's just the washers I found mine a local auto parts store.

Well, you're right on not needing the picture, as it sounds that we are all talking about the same thing.
Uncle put the mechanic and Sportmachines together, and he is awaiting the needed pieces.

I'll know more, soon.
Thanks

Hey! That dropped my "new guy" status! :)

Uncle says the new seals/washers/o-rings stopped the leak, serpentine belt replaced, and vacuum leaks have been fixed...
