base ve trouble

well, its only about 60 here in Michigan, not sure if that has anything to do with it.

but, when i get to tuning my base pulse width vs egr ( i believe thats what im supposed to be starting with) to get my idle a/f to 14.7 (when its at operating temp) to achieve this, on my stock truck, with a stock bin, i have to lower to from 158, to 137 range, to get it to sit about about 14.7. (also should i change all the BPW/EGR values to this?) but, when i do that, it runs super lean, and when i go to adjust it on my F29x table, i end up with crazy numbers in the 102 area, and they get highlighted like im making a mistake, and there so much higher than all the other cells...I have a new walbro pump, although i dont actually know what my pressure going to my injectors is.., I was just wanting to see if anyone else had had this prob, and what they did to fix it. also i felt i should double check what tables i was using.

Adjust F28 first to get the truck idling close, then use F29x to fine tune. F28 values have to be high enough that F29x values don't start getting maxed out.

Re: base ve trouble

Make sure that you have the correct Analysis Toolpack for excel if you are using Autotune. I didn't have that and it gave me funny numbers also.

Re: base ve trouble

ok, ill try the raising my F28 tables to see if it changes, and your going to have to explain that toolpack thing a bit more to me

I have autotune 1.7, and on my excel i think im running 2009, ill have to look, but on what i have on this pc its not checked off in my tools-add ons menu

Re: base ve trouble

Some times a truck likes to idle richer or leaner than the 14.7 afr that is suggested, do not get caught up in the number give the truck what it likes, also you should have an adjustable fuel pressure regulator and know what it is set at, guessing the fuel pressure may cause problems down the road of tuning.

Re: base ve trouble

In the Notes-FAQ tab of the Autotune spreadsheet note # 7 reads:

Autotune requires you to add the anaylsis tool pak add-in. Go to tools, add-ins, Anaylsis toolpak

I think it's needed for some of the math that it does to calculate the new VE table.
